Assassins is one of the most flat-out enjoyable metal albums I know of. Really eclectic, flows really well, something really memorable on every track, just rocks. I play it while driving a lot.

It's a fun album to listen to on an ipod (RIP my Ipod Classic that died 2 weeks ago)

Kinda curious if Emptiness' Nothing but the Whole will somehow squeak into the results. That thing knocked me over and seemed to get a lot of attention.

Looking just at the rest of my top 10, I'm pretty sure I know won't will or won't make it.

(and the outro of the title track on Assassins is awesome, I'll say that at least)

doom, esp the grimy downtuned stuff, is the subgenre I listen to the least, so I have to be in the specific mood for something like Corrupted, and that mood doesn't come often. Solitude Aeturnus is usually my go-to for any kind of doom, and that's mostly for Robert Lowe's voice.

We listened to this a bit. It sounded quite cool. Then after what felt like an album's worth, we stopped, midway through track 3 :p

I couldn't really get into the whole Aluk Todolo album either back when I tried. Maybe I'll try again. SubRosa is obv classic.

this is a great record

somehow the songs don't get buried by the most caffeinated drum performance in metal history, just a sword and sorcery epic in music form

Awwww. Love this album.

A lot of my votes placed while I was asleep. Grandeur of Hair was my #2. Ship of Theseus my #4. Toxicity my #10. Also voted for Aluk Todolo, Goat, Subrosa. Much father down, but that doesn't matter because it's only like the bottom 5 albums on my ballot that I think are less than fantastic! Occult Rock was my #59, & World Music my #62, but that essentially translates into being my twelfth- and thirteenth-favorite albums from 2011...

I don't care for the Alcest's subsequent garbage but I still like this one, even if it's not as good as Le Secret. Not sure what makes it metal but nice fuzzed-out dreampop songs. xp

Also, they would be better if they reformed as a garage rock band called The Alcests.
