have a wild guess which of the last four albums I voted for

imago, Monday, 12 September 2016 15:03 (nine years ago)

In Solitude were so great. That isn't my favourite album of theirs, but still good.

jmm, Monday, 12 September 2016 15:04 (nine years ago)

good band, yeah

Cosmic Slop, Monday, 12 September 2016 15:11 (nine years ago)

The Fen album is excellent but I think I dropped it from my ballot

Cosmic Slop, Monday, 12 September 2016 15:11 (nine years ago)

Recommended Oceansize track: You Can't Keep A Bad Man Down. Or The Charm Offensive.

imago, Monday, 12 September 2016 15:15 (nine years ago)

The next one up I thought would go top 20 but there you go, ILM as unpredictable as ever

such a great album, was OOP for so long on vinyl it was nice to get it a few years back as the pic disk just wasnt enough

Cosmic Slop, Monday, 12 September 2016 15:21 (nine years ago)

We are about to enter The George Section Part II (tho Witchcraft are the kind of psych hard rock he should dig)

This is such a great album.

Drugs A. Money, Monday, 12 September 2016 15:31 (nine years ago)

Best live band. This album captures their spirit nicely - maybe better than any of their other albums

imago, Monday, 12 September 2016 15:32 (nine years ago)

amazing record

nxd, Monday, 12 September 2016 15:35 (nine years ago)

I've always wanted to see them live, but I havent done it yet. I made plans the last time, when they were touring with Melvins and Napalm Death, but they kinda fell through.

Drugs A. Money, Monday, 12 September 2016 15:36 (nine years ago)

Trying to keep up with all the new stuff. Enjoying the Shape of Despair record.
If someone (imago!) could keep recommending a single track from each album that appears, that would be great. I'll pitch in where I can.

Sunn O))) Brother Where Art Thou? (Chinaski), Monday, 12 September 2016 15:43 (nine years ago)

Love that Fen album.

Also there is nothing fun about The Mars Volta!

Gavin, Leeds, Monday, 12 September 2016 15:47 (nine years ago)

Agreed!

Cosmic Slop, Monday, 12 September 2016 15:48 (nine years ago)

I voted for Witchcraft! I'm extremely surprised to see it outside the top 100. Recommended track: Schyssta Logner

Meanwhile, this ASG album is perfectly pleasant, clean doom.

tangenttangent, Monday, 12 September 2016 15:49 (nine years ago)

fuckin kill him

who is extremely unqualified to review this pop album (BradNelson), Monday, 12 September 2016 15:50 (nine years ago)

the only record i voted for in this part of the list was in solitude, which freaking rocks man!!!

xposts

Wasn't expecting to have to defend The Mars Volta so much! FTM was my #2. I love them unreservedly. Such energy and ingenuity! Space and prog and fragmented identity...and way too much of all of it. For me it is the perfect recipe.

tangenttangent, Monday, 12 September 2016 15:51 (nine years ago)

Flower-sniffin' fakey bm vs. crank-rock

Another TMV lifer here too (still haven't heard their last album though)

ultros ultros-ghali, Monday, 12 September 2016 15:52 (nine years ago)

Prog is my favourite thing but I don't get the Mars Volta.

jmm, Monday, 12 September 2016 15:53 (nine years ago)

Another TMV lifer here too (still haven't heard their last album though)

Haha yeah, me neither

tangenttangent, Monday, 12 September 2016 15:54 (nine years ago)

i mention this every time it comes up but the last track on their last album is one of the best tmv songs ever. rest of it not so much

who is extremely unqualified to review this pop album (BradNelson), Monday, 12 September 2016 15:54 (nine years ago)

i didn't vote for frances the mute bc i am in the mood for it only once every like three years but i definitely love its brand of nonsense

who is extremely unqualified to review this pop album (BradNelson), Monday, 12 September 2016 15:56 (nine years ago)

Recommended FTM track is the opener. Nicely put tt

The Envy album is so great. My fave of theirs

Cosmic Slop, Monday, 12 September 2016 16:00 (nine years ago)

Love the Psychic Paramount album but it told me to turn it down, citing repetitiveness :(

imago, Monday, 12 September 2016 16:02 (nine years ago)

I forgot to vote for 1000 Hurts!

Totally voted for Psychic Paramount though. An awesome racket!

Drugs A. Money, Monday, 12 September 2016 16:03 (nine years ago)

What about the Envy album? Such an awesome racket too

Cosmic Slop, Monday, 12 September 2016 16:04 (nine years ago)

One of the best bands ever from Japan

Cosmic Slop, Monday, 12 September 2016 16:04 (nine years ago)

I loved one Envy album from another poll, but it wasn't this one!

imago, Monday, 12 September 2016 16:05 (nine years ago)

I can't remember if I voted for that Envy album or not...if not, that was a stupid omission.

I have no recollection of any conversations about Psychic Paramount ever...that doesn't sound like something I would say

tangenttangent, Monday, 12 September 2016 16:06 (nine years ago)

If any non-voters are lurking following the results feel free to tell us what you think of albums you have discovered or given a listen to because of the poll.

Anyone can talk about ANY of the albums that have placed in the top 300 anytime

Cosmic Slop, Monday, 12 September 2016 16:07 (nine years ago)

Yeah I really like that Envy album too. And the Melt-Banana.

ultros ultros-ghali, Monday, 12 September 2016 16:07 (nine years ago)

I think you were in the next room tbf, and heavy psych is probably really annoying through a wall

imago, Monday, 12 September 2016 16:07 (nine years ago)

I will reappraise it through headphones. Oh, I also voted for Melt Banana and echo sentiments already expressed. Recommended track: either the opener or closer are sensational, but the whole thing is a migraine of wonder

tangenttangent, Monday, 12 September 2016 16:10 (nine years ago)

Oh I like that phrase. Must remember to steal it

imago, Monday, 12 September 2016 16:11 (nine years ago)

Is Imago annoying through a wall? Or only when riding a horse into space?

Cosmic Slop, Monday, 12 September 2016 16:13 (nine years ago)

'A migraine of wonder'. I'm in.

Going back a bit, I'm an early-Tool obsessive but never got anywhere with 10,000 Days. I've got the CD edition with the daft goggles, too.

Sunn O))) Brother Where Art Thou? (Chinaski), Monday, 12 September 2016 16:13 (nine years ago)

Intrigued by Psychic Paramount, sounds like it might be up my street.
