"Again" from the first Slime Season I've come back to a lot this year

just discovered 'wanna be me' off of that. the one where he starts chatting about carrots.

First time I heard that beat it made me think of Tiny Toons from growing up for some reason, and Bugs Bunny > carrots...idk

'wanna be me' is one of my favourite songs to start the day if it's sunny outside.

Really dig the sound Metro Boomin uses on "Hercules" and, to use an older example, "The Blanguage." A little more spaced-out than his usual?

Hadn't listened to I'm Up the whole way and completely skipped over SS3, going back and catching up on current-year Thug

I find I like the fuller, more 'colourful' production on these productions than most of the more minimal/subdued stuff on Barter 6

Yeah with Barter 6 I really like "Dream" and, iirc, "Just Might Be," but overall it never hooked me like that.

Looking forward to being able to buy a physical copy of eventual official debut, hopefully.

It pats itself on the head at the end, but so many music videos are interchangeable and disposable it's pretty cool seeing one with a voice.

It kind of makes me interested in the economics of music videos, too. $100,000 seems like a ton of money to dump on a song that's extraordinarily unlikely to become a hit.

xp i would imagine YT's marketing/publicity budget is part of his contract with Atlantic and the line items for video per album released were set in ink well before the song was released... and given the label turmoil, they probably gave him a very large budget to work with as a sign of commitment. who, ultimately, is paying for that video is something of a different question.

Thought it was a gimmick but he really did not show up.

understandable the director wld be upset that thugger nuked his whole production but his superior tone kinda grates

yeah jesus not showing up for concerts, videos, etc etc is one of rap's greatest traditions

mf doom and kool keith are legends in the not showing up for shit game

i reread the story of the big pimpin video shoot last year and it's always amazing

so i didn't think i "got" this artist for the longest time. i listened to jeffery yesterday though and oh man. i get it now.

That's one of his best vocal performances ever. I can't believe he's still getting better

the video is really interesting too i think, hes such a twitchy and concealed visual presence but in this video (and in the song) it seems like hes opening up, and the song is called safe, this is very compelling art to me

yeah, it's really, really direct. He usually keeps his head down in his videos (and even on his recent album covers). But here he's not hiding his face or obscuring his words at all. I love his wild stuff, but I'd very much enjoy a full record this open

and aesthetic of the the song too wow, its all working together, and yeah i had the same thought of a whole album like this

he's the best recording artist of the past 2-3 years and it's not even close.
