― ufo, Thursday, 25 August 2016 16:29 (nine years ago)
Ah, OK. Looking forward.
― Chewshabadoo, Thursday, 25 August 2016 17:28 (nine years ago)
It's already on Spotify @ just past midnight!
― Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Friday, 26 August 2016 04:25 (nine years ago)
I hope they make a movie about the writing/recording sessions for this album someday. These "leftovers" are better than just about anything that has been or will be released by anybody this year.
― Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Friday, 26 August 2016 04:29 (nine years ago)
they don't even feel like leftovers whatsoever! they do such a great job of cohering into their own little standalone album.
― j. winters (josh), Friday, 26 August 2016 04:34 (nine years ago)
anyway i think "roses" is gonna be the one i'll be listening to face down on the bedroom floor at 2 in the morning
― j. winters (josh), Friday, 26 August 2016 04:35 (nine years ago)
<3 the one
― esempiu (crüt), Friday, 26 August 2016 04:46 (nine years ago)
the rest is whatever
― esempiu (crüt), Friday, 26 August 2016 04:49 (nine years ago)
"fever" is not whatever

Good listen so far here.
― Ned Raggett, Friday, 26 August 2016 05:13 (nine years ago)
lol @ "store" though
― who is extremely unqualified to review this pop album (BradNelson), Friday, 26 August 2016 05:55 (nine years ago)
love that "store" has the grindin' beat
― Salma Hayek's racist predatory lesbian taco (s.clover), Friday, 26 August 2016 05:59 (nine years ago)
store is her "california"
― Salma Hayek's racist predatory lesbian taco (s.clover), Friday, 26 August 2016 06:00 (nine years ago)
'Cry' has been the one on repeat this morning.
― Chewshabadoo, Friday, 26 August 2016 10:43 (nine years ago)
feels a bit underwhelming? I mean, if out of those 250 songs "store" rose to the top, maybe I don't want to hear the 230 unreleased ones.
― Sharkie, Friday, 26 August 2016 13:15 (nine years ago)
with the De La Soul out today and my still absorbing the Britney, I'll wait till next week to listen
― The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 26 August 2016 13:16 (nine years ago)
now that carly has songs called "fever," "body language," and "the one," is she kylie
― who is extremely unqualified to review this pop album (BradNelson), Friday, 26 August 2016 13:34 (nine years ago)
I listened to it this morning and agree that there isn't anything here that really measures up to the stuff on Emotion. I'm fine with that though - I much prefer the format of a B-side collection as opposed to a Deluxe Edition that features the full album being re-released with a bunch of also-rans. The only ones that really stood out were "First Time" and "The One". I was kinda sleep-deprived while listening though, so I'll give it some more time.
― how's life, Friday, 26 August 2016 13:37 (nine years ago)
OK fuck it I listened to the back half. "Cry" ranks with her best.
― The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 26 August 2016 13:44 (nine years ago)
First Time, Higher and Fever are all as great as anything on Emotion
― ufo, Friday, 26 August 2016 14:39 (nine years ago)
Store's chorus sounds plugged in from a completely different, less good song, which is disappointing as the verses really do feel like they're building to something great.
Cry, Roses, Fever, and First Time could've easily replaced some of the actual tracks on the album and ended up being highlights of said album.
― Greer, Friday, 26 August 2016 14:43 (nine years ago)
can't even deal with "cry"
― who is extremely unqualified to review this pop album (BradNelson), Friday, 26 August 2016 17:20 (nine years ago)
uh lol
'store' from the E•MO•TION B sides is actually 5 years old, it was originally written for an anti-smoking ad in 2011
― 1staethyr, Saturday, 27 August 2016 03:12 (nine years ago)
Haha!
It's really the only blight on the whole thing, though.
― Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Saturday, 27 August 2016 03:18 (nine years ago)
"Higher" is my jam.
― mingalaba, Thursday, 1 September 2016 05:01 (nine years ago)
the divisiveness of 'store' is a mystery to me, it's fine! has the feeling of a scratch lyric that she just couldn't shake, why doesn't everyone like that???
― goole, Friday, 2 September 2016 16:22 (nine years ago)
that Canadian anti-smoking ad killed me - "you could buy so many clothes!!!". I like "Store" better now.
― Sharkie, Friday, 2 September 2016 16:56 (nine years ago)
The chorus hook reminds me of something and I can’t quite place my finger on it.
― Chewshabadoo, Friday, 2 September 2016 19:55 (nine years ago)
I'm just going to the store, to the store. I'm just going to the store. You might not see me anymore, anymore. I'm just going to the store.
― king konta (cajunsunday), Sunday, 4 September 2016 12:12 (nine years ago)

― Chewshabadoo, Tuesday, 6 September 2016 18:45 (nine years ago)

I wasn't crazy about the singles from Emotion (dunno how to make the dots), but I'm so glad I finally listened to the full album. Everything is good to great and even the singles sound better in the context of the album. "Making the Most of the Night" is such a fucking rush
Reading through this thread was the first time I realized "I Really Like You" was not a big hit in the US? I've been living in Vietnam the past couple years and all my students knew the song. Typically, the only western music that gets popular here are the artists everyone in the world knows like Swift and Bieber, so I just assumed "I Really Like You" was as huge as "Call Me Maybe". I guess whatever makes her popular in Japan makes her popular here
― Vinnie, Saturday, 22 October 2016 09:50 (nine years ago)
Last I checked Spotify the spins for "I Really Like You" were about 228 mil while "Call Me Maybe" was 240 mil - surprisingly not too far from each other. Living in the US, I didn't realize she had any other songs that came close to her signature hit's popularity.
