Is it this one? What a great track!
― Gerard (Le Bateau Ivre), Tuesday, 21 April 2009 08:03 (seventeen years ago)
I'm not really feeling the Meanderthals record.
― Enormous Epic (Matt DC), Tuesday, 21 April 2009 08:41 (seventeen years ago)
I nominated the Love You Inside Out edit for the 2008 trax poll, but none of you clowns voted for it. It IS great, but I almost wish he had stripped it down even more. I could listen to that first loop forever.
― Jamie T Smith, Tuesday, 21 April 2009 09:07 (seventeen years ago)
the plan b smalltown supersound cd is pretty good. pretty underwhelmed by the meanderthals track but plenty of solid old stuff like music in my mind
― straightola, Tuesday, 21 April 2009 09:50 (seventeen years ago)
Love You Inside Out 12" is in stock at Amoeba SF, we do mail order!
― mikebee (BATTAGS), Tuesday, 21 April 2009 19:43 (seventeen years ago)
how's this for balearic
― (jaxon) ( .) ( .) (jaxon), Tuesday, 21 April 2009 20:45 (seventeen years ago)
ha yea i used that edit in a mix and someone was saying " i had no idea that feist song was a cover". now that makes a lot more sense
― i am the eye in the sky... (psychgawsple), Tuesday, 21 April 2009 21:33 (seventeen years ago)
the feist cover is pretty good imo
― rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Tuesday, 21 April 2009 21:54 (seventeen years ago)
ya, better than the original, which gets a bit too schmaltzy for me, but no where close to the edit
― (jaxon) ( .) ( .) (jaxon), Tuesday, 21 April 2009 23:15 (seventeen years ago)
Unfortunate title notwithstanding, Peter Visti's "Night Night Balearic Monster" is a worthy follow-up to "Flight Over Tokyo". Similar intense driving feel to it.
― Tim F, Friday, 8 May 2009 08:37 (seventeen years ago)
WTF that's a great title.
― Enormous Epic (Matt DC), Friday, 8 May 2009 08:57 (seventeen years ago)
calling a track 'late nite balearic monster' does seem like pandering to the audience somewhat
― juniper jazz (haitch), Friday, 8 May 2009 08:59 (seventeen years ago)
oh i was hoping it was actuallly "night night, balearic monster"
looking fwd to listening to this, love his other mixes
― anger is an allergy (braveclub), Friday, 8 May 2009 09:04 (seventeen years ago)
Sorry, yeah, it's "Late Night Balearic Monster". "Night Night Balearic Monster" would be amazing.
― Tim F, Friday, 8 May 2009 09:33 (seventeen years ago)
:(
― Enormous Epic (Matt DC), Friday, 8 May 2009 09:56 (seventeen years ago)
guys i didn't mean to ruin it!!!
on a happier note, henrik schwarz on beats in space played a fantastic remix of something by 'visti & meyland', i assume that's our man, check it out because it's good.
― juniper jazz (haitch), Friday, 8 May 2009 11:06 (seventeen years ago)
visti/meyland used to put stuff out on Music for Dreams before Visti found Eskimo...
― mikebee (BATTAGS), Friday, 8 May 2009 18:01 (seventeen years ago)
ive got this harvey mix on my computer, the one that starts with beach boys "our prayer" is that the sarcastic disco mix? it's badly labelled. And correct labelling is a big thing with me.
― languid samuel l. jackson (jim), Friday, 8 May 2009 18:04 (seventeen years ago)
yeah
― moonship journey to baja, Tuesday, 12 May 2009 05:27 (seventeen years ago)

― moonship journey to baja, Tuesday, 12 May 2009 05:28 (seventeen years ago)

― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Sunday, 17 May 2009 00:40 (seventeen years ago)
the first track is great but i couldnt get into the rest quite as much. i'll definitely give the rest a fair shot
― k3vin k., Sunday, 17 May 2009 00:57 (seventeen years ago)
so since this thread is about the balearic revival are no oldish balearic tunes in this thread appreciated ? i've been sitting on quite a few songs and have been unsure about posting them, is there another thread for this ?
― oscar, Sunday, 17 May 2009 01:00 (seventeen years ago)
don't think the 'revival' is restricted to 'nu-balearica'. a revival in general interest, i would say. have at it!

i just posted that track last week :D
― (jaxon) ( .) ( .) (jaxon), Sunday, 17 May 2009 02:59 (seventeen years ago)
hah, I knew I saw it somewhere! But I think I saw the vid, did you post the youtube clip somewhere? Or is it just that balearic revival zeitgeist?
― dan selzer, Sunday, 17 May 2009 05:04 (seventeen years ago)
i know the last thing we need is another thread with 'balearic' in the title but is there seriously no thread dedicated only to the older stuff? i'd love more recommendations, am always in search of vintage mixtapes, etc
― i am the eye in the sky... (psychgawsple), Sunday, 17 May 2009 05:12 (seventeen years ago)
you can always start a thread called "this is the thread for the BALEARIC RETROSPECTIVE"
― dan selzer, Sunday, 17 May 2009 06:13 (seventeen years ago)
just need to reiterate how amazing and evocative the meanderthals album is - def the best of the recent crop of balearic albums imo. 'lasaron highway' is just perfect
― lex pretend, Sunday, 17 May 2009 08:55 (seventeen years ago)
I like this album too, it's on the more meditative side of this stuff, it reminds me a bit of Talk Talk which is obv a good thing.
― zero learnt from nero (Neil S), Sunday, 17 May 2009 09:29 (seventeen years ago)
BTW for Spotify users, Cosmic Disco have put together a large playlist of cosmic/ balearic stuff:http://open.spotify.com/user/cosmicdisco/playlist/59MRyu1At7vp39Cw3WE7wD
― zero learnt from nero (Neil S), Sunday, 17 May 2009 09:30 (seventeen years ago)
i've been wondering what track this is for some days. i heard in 2 or 3 mixes so it must be easy. it's got vocal that sounds like rufus wainwright, singing "and the sun got its blue" or something. anyone knows?
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Sunday, 17 May 2009 09:44 (seventeen years ago)
Supermayer "Lost In Tiergarten" remix of Tiergarten by Rufus?
― the sound of mu (sic), Sunday, 17 May 2009 11:28 (seventeen years ago)
That Spotify playlist already doesn't work for me :(

― zero learnt from nero (Neil S), Sunday, 17 May 2009 12:44 (seventeen years ago)
Nope, it doesn't appear to exist.

Spotify playlists are annoyingly flaky.
― zero learnt from nero (Neil S), Sunday, 17 May 2009 12:57 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah, what the hell was I thinking. If it sounded like Rufus then hello, maybe it WAS Rufus.
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Sunday, 17 May 2009 14:06 (seventeen years ago)
xpost-- i guess there IS this thread for older balearic faves
― i am the eye in the sky... (psychgawsple), Sunday, 17 May 2009 17:37 (seventeen years ago)
@ Ant
Have you got any good recommendations for download from that emusic site?
Bit late replying to this... But - related to this thread - try the stuff on BearFunk, Tirk, Smalltown Supersound and Permanant Vacation - the one down side of emusic is that its really hard to find and share stuff. You can search by label though, which helps. You can search for specific remixers and then hope that their names are in the track titles too - lots of idjut/lindstrom etc stuff on their.
The Max Essa Album on bearfunk might be a good place to start.
