Autechre: Classic or Dud?

I would love to see a really in-depth breakdown of the Ae artwork though. I'd like to know what the Oversteps, Confield and Elseq ones are all about, especially. The Confield artwork is so disappointing, I just wonder what was going on there. Something about millennium-era CD cover design was this obsession with white space, minimalism, but it always made your CDs look horrible the second the screen cracked or got dusty.

A poll based on artwork alone would be interesting.

IDK, it works for me. Seems sort of like a visual representation of the way their music works.

it's the white border that annoys me. and the quality of the graphic within it looks cheap, like a printer running out and also the logo looks naff or not kerned right or something.

they skip the live lps. those triangles >>>>> the elseq circles and squares.

i wish the envane website was still live somewhere - was an interactive version of the sleeve.

Reissues of the first three on the way, with ... a bonus live set? It's unclear (to me).

yeah I would buy LP5 in a breath. especially if it came in a nice fancy sleeve

xp funny that whole it was seen as such an important mold-breaking album at the time, Confield feels more like a transitional album in the context of their catalogue now. you're right, I'd much rather repurchase Draft.30

Yeah, it's strange - seems to be the only album Warp have let go out of print. I found it impossible to replace my CD copy of it a few years ago; even the standard jewel-case US version was out of print. In the end I got a decent used copy.

(Touched put it a couple of enormous electronic music compilations a couple of years running, with, I think, 111 tracks the first year and 256 the second. The year after was just 12 anonymous tracks)
