Yeah, I noticed that others had misused this thread too, but that doesn't change the fact that its original agenda is "musicians with the same name". Generic namesakes of any field of interest aren't really as unique or funny.

I don't object to the use of a namesake from another field as much as I do to the fact that the other Cam Newton is such a marginal figure, almost unknown outside the US.

I get that not everyone doesn't immediately know who Cam Newton is. It's hard to believe, I know, being we're talking about a guy who won the Heisman Award and a national championship as well as being picked first in the NFL draft. When I worked at a record store I got a call from a nice woman who worked at Kill Rock Stars. She set up some promotions with me in the past but also knew that I was a metal guy which was why she consulted me.

One half of the duo Bitch and Animal who previously recorded for Any DiFranco's Righteous Babe Records was about to release a solo album and she wanted to ask me whether there would be any confusion with the metal band of the same name.

I told her I didn't think there would be any confusion. Was I mistaken?
