I am greatly enjoying the new Cantoma album that came out last week

Oh yeah, this is really nice. Love how the first three cuts flow together seamlessly (to the point where I'm wondering why Phil didn't just segue Alive and Just Landed?) and the closing track, "Claudio's Theme" is just gorgeous, like Guthrie meets Gigi.

Out Friday on International Feel, a promising collaboration of Wolf Müller and Cass. "Aiolos" sounds like THE track.

The new Mark barrott arrived in the mail yesterday but I won't be able to listen until after the 4th.

i think the best and most balearic thing ive heard all year is the mix that youtube made based on efeel's 'dawn breaks over a quiet harbor' which introduced me to letta mdulu's 'down by the river'

weirdly i've heard both of those for the first time in the last year through totally different routes to you, the mbulu was in a mix by some guy with 100 followers or so i found on soundcloud, and the sonya spence is in one of the old sorcerer mixes (all worth downloading).

his between-song chat is almost exactly the same and kind of cute/hilarious, he has a lot of monotone catchphrases, but mostly the music just makes me want to be high and dancing barefoot. good place to hear new things too.

letta mbulu has a long and varied career. some of her early records are slick south african soul and are pretty good.... there are some later ones that seem a little too schlocky to me at first listen.

the youtube playlist algorithms have been getting pretty good, haven't they? sometimes they fail bigtime (mostly by being too predictable), but other times they turn up all kinds of pleasant surprises.
