I wonder if there was a shop that bands that wanted to get an Earth, Wind and Fire look could go, like some big B. Coat Factory for the the hip star child in you.

earlnash, Sunday, 15 May 2016 02:06 (ten years ago)

was tipped off to their existence via a heathcote williams interview i read the other day. amazon review has me kind of curious: ...though the front cover displayed them as futuristic glam-rockers, Wilderness Road actually played a mutant hybrid of mountain music, psychedelia, rock, country and avant political satire

I've come to the conclusion that as an album title, "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols" sits comfortably in the tradition of this thread. And I'd love to see the cover re-imagined in the style of some of those featured here.

Georgie Fame - All Me Own Work

soref, Wednesday, 15 June 2016 00:16 (nine years ago)

Been there, done that, I'm afraid. Has "Been There, Done That" been used at all?

Larry 'Leg' Smith (Tom D.), Wednesday, 15 June 2016 00:22 (nine years ago)

... many times apparently.

Larry 'Leg' Smith (Tom D.), Wednesday, 15 June 2016 00:25 (nine years ago)

... almost a separate thread in the making, in fact.

Larry 'Leg' Smith (Tom D.), Wednesday, 15 June 2016 00:26 (nine years ago)

sorry, I just noticed you'd posted it when doing a search for Georgie Fame. search for "All Me Own Work" produced no results for some reason. good album, anyway.

GF also produced "No Worries", don't know if that's shown up yet

Harvey Manfrenjensenden (Doctor Casino), Sunday, 3 July 2016 00:27 (nine years ago)

That Fred Wesley album is really good. Produced by George Clinton and Bootsy Collins, it's basically a P-Funk album - it has a great version of "Up for the Down Stroke" on it. The follow-up, Say Blow By Blow Backwards, is good, too.

Dunno if it's upthread, but I believe the Clare Fischer one was from 1987, so Derek Bell's 1981 effort beat him by several years:

i love that album so much

it's so special in that i can't think of an album that is more a product of a certain time and place and mindset (and drugs)
