Don't agree. Using the guy from Dashboard Confessional's whiny voice as a baseline point, I'd say the guy from Jimmy Eat World only rates about 50% emo-whiny.

listen to static prevails.

they used to do splits with christie front drive and the like. definitely a part of that "midwestern" emo sound. shimmering arpeggiated indie rock with a boner for loud/soft dynamics.

i don't want to get into an emo thing. go to fourfa.com

That's hardly fair!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Saturday, 8 January 2005 20:33 (twenty-one years ago)

what the fuck does dashboard confessional have to do with ordination of aaron or moss icon? today's "emo" has no musical connection to yesterday's emo. the term really should have died with sunny day and mineral. maybe even before.

Pumped about the vinyl reissues, but why no Bleed American?

You know something? He *did* say "well, yeah" a lot. (cryptosicko), Wednesday, 25 June 2014 16:44 (eleven years ago)

Okay I'm probably among the bigger mid-period Jimmy Eat World stan on this board, but jesus fuck not every album needs to be celebrated with an anniversary guys.

Bus Sex Teen Busted After Queef Beef (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 25 June 2014 17:39 (eleven years ago)

i agree? but far as i can tell there are a ton of ppl who are all about futures

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Wednesday, 25 June 2014 17:55 (eleven years ago)

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Wednesday, 25 June 2014 17:57 (eleven years ago)

fucking classic just for THE MIDDLE and its 1979-aping video. BLEED AMERICAN the song also geat. SWEETNESS might be their best song

I have decided that Futures is my favorite JEW album. Integrity Blues has higher highs but also 3-4 tracks I have no use for.

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Monday, 17 April 2017 17:21 (nine years ago)

fav overall?

Spottie, Monday, 17 April 2017 17:27 (nine years ago)

clarity will basically never be supplanted as my fav, but integrity is prob my second favorite jew album at this point. it's def their dreamiest

for some reason i have found myself in a lot of conversations about this band lately (i didn't even bring them up!)

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Monday, 17 April 2017 17:39 (nine years ago)

I will say that Integrity Blues' title track almost made me tear up on the train a few days ago

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Monday, 17 April 2017 18:21 (nine years ago)

I think if "Disintegration" and "Shame" made it to Futures it would have been more warmly received, somehow.

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Monday, 17 April 2017 18:34 (nine years ago)

"shame" is so good, prob the least ponderous slow song from those sessions

Are JEW and 3EB releasing on the same day?

de-mamba mentality (Spottie), Thursday, 17 October 2019 02:12 (six years ago)

yes lol

american bradass (BradNelson), Thursday, 17 October 2019 02:36 (six years ago)

also i'm very impressed by this record. thought it might be a straight-up pop-rock record like bleed american or chase this light, and it sort of is but with dark atmospheric pockets. the last two tracks are a moodshift you almost don't notice happening until it's happened

american bradass (BradNelson), Thursday, 17 October 2019 02:39 (six years ago)

got my friday night lined up

de-mamba mentality (Spottie), Thursday, 17 October 2019 02:43 (six years ago)

thinking it’s time for Pitchfork to revisit Bleed American, keep righting Ryan rongs.
