I've seen them live (they were good) and got a record (not as good) but ever time I try to tell someone about Raccoo-ooo-oon I feel like a total dipshit. So them.

On! Air! Library! Especially bad because "On Air Library" wouldn't be a bad band name at all.

Sorry, I like a lot of stuff on Kranky, and a lot of bands with questionable names, but just can't make it past this one. Immediately rings an alarm, like someone wearing Keds. Certainly as much my problem as theirs.

Cute is what we aim for
Forgot that one! Now thanks to ILX I think of them as - one of those bands with some kind of shitty Cuddlestein Mountain names.

Nobody's brought up all the ska bands with some ska-related term in their names or metal bands with highly genre-specific type names. Probably because those that write off/pointedly ignore those names also write off/pointedly ignore those genres.

Unnecessary punctuation is a recurring theme. I mean, who names a band
Boats!
with an exclamation mark? I mean, you might as well call your band "we'reabunchoffucktardsobv".
If I recall there was a band named "Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Start" or whatever that Nintendo cheat was. Owch! And the title of their album was "Worst Band Name Ever," which self-awareness did not exonerate them.

When I was in high school we were bored and playing "outdo each other listing obscure bands" and the nerdiest loner guy came up with "People with Chairs up their Noses" and we roundly mocked him for making shit up.
And then later I found out that was a real band :|

When I found out a band called itself "Stars of Track and Field," I laughed smugly, and thought, "That's a shitty name for a band. Who would name themselves after a Belle & Sebastian song... Shouldn't the name-influencing band at least be long dead and gone and/or legendary in some respect?" Then I realized JUST EXACTLY HOW SHITTY THAT BAND NAME WAS, and my music reviewer co-worker and I ritually destroyed the review copy of the CD. We're talking scratching, biting, ripping, breaking and eventually setting on fire. Then they sent us four more review copies. I think one died by paper shredder.
