i always thought this was a single. should have realized you can't say "You worthless bitch, You fickle shit" in singles.

the beginning of that video

"Greatest band on the face of the earth, enjoy it while you can because we will never see their like again."

Bee OK, Saturday, 2 April 2016 20:51 (ten years ago)

lol, not sure about all that...

Bee OK, Saturday, 2 April 2016 20:51 (ten years ago)

my number 1. what an epic song and what a way to start of their debut album.

Bee OK, Saturday, 2 April 2016 20:51 (ten years ago)

sorry, it doesn't open the album, momentary lapses of reason.

Bee OK, Saturday, 2 April 2016 20:55 (ten years ago)

yes it does!

My #6! I think TSGO album version completely shreds the single version.

Heiress Too (Dr. Joseph A. Ofalt), Saturday, 2 April 2016 21:29 (ten years ago)

Crowds (#12) was my #11 - from a long-ago era when B-sides were as good - or better - than A-sides

Heiress Too (Dr. Joseph A. Ofalt), Saturday, 2 April 2016 21:33 (ten years ago)

good time to bring this up, the reason why i think The Sky's Gone Out was their best album is because they had their best run. Side 1 is perfect and i knew In the Flat Field didn't need the help.

Third Uncle
Silent Hedges
In the Night
Swing the Heartache
Spirit

all songs made my ballot.

A bunch of stuff in this run I didn't vote for... I didn't pick any covers -- never fond of "Rosegarden Funeral of Sores" and I prefer Eno's "Third Uncle." "Double Dare" is not a favourite. I don't dislike "Mask," but I didn't vote for it.

"Crowds," "Hollow Hills," "Slice of Life," "Kick in the Eye," "Spirit," and "Silent Hedges" are all great. I like the acoustic stuff from The Sky's Gone Out, but otherwise it's my least favourite of the original 4 LPs (sorry).

xpost - also love "Lagartija Nick."

lingereffect (Kent Burt), Saturday, 2 April 2016 21:56 (ten years ago)

no need to be sorry.

Bee OK, Saturday, 2 April 2016 22:07 (ten years ago)

damn, didn't mean to do that.

Bee OK, Saturday, 2 April 2016 22:10 (ten years ago)

That is a very good looking cover on Lagartija Nick's single. I'm a sucker for engraving looking art.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Saturday, 2 April 2016 22:16 (ten years ago)

my number 3

Spirit was my number 1, I much prefer the single version over the album version though.

nate woolls, Saturday, 2 April 2016 22:45 (ten years ago)

didn't have room on my ballot for this one. surprised and happy with this getting so high.

Bee OK, Saturday, 2 April 2016 22:54 (ten years ago)

turn it up a little bit

Bee OK, Saturday, 2 April 2016 23:02 (ten years ago)

"The title came from a newspaper headline reporting a Red Army Faction attack that killed Paul Bloomquist."

Bee OK, Saturday, 2 April 2016 23:04 (ten years ago)

'All We Ever Wanted Was Everything' was my #6. Acoustic bass!

'Terror Couple Kill Colonel' was my #3. It's wacky!

Austin, Saturday, 2 April 2016 23:07 (ten years ago)

this was number 16 for me.

Bee OK, Saturday, 2 April 2016 23:50 (ten years ago)

another one i didn't vote for.

Bee OK, Sunday, 3 April 2016 00:00 (ten years ago)

"The Passion of Lovers" was my number 2 -- such a great song. I love the live performance linked above - that whole show from the Old Vic is great.
