Love Hysteria beating Deep is surprising.

i wanted to use the original artwork for this poll, plus i didn’t have time to do 70 images. Only problem there is i started to run out of things for Love and Rockets. Bauhaus stuff is really tough to find on-line, they don’t even have their own website.

Bee OK, Wednesday, 30 March 2016 23:42 (ten years ago)

at long last, results for the songs.

Bee OK, Wednesday, 30 March 2016 23:49 (ten years ago)

Also surprised at Sky beating Mask. But when I look at the track listing it probably has more songs on it that I love.
In the Flat Field was my number one. (x-post)

Great song! A great opener for Express and for this poll. Love all the distortion in the second part.

Love Hysteria beating Deep is surprising.

I adore Love Hysteria! For me, it's by far his most memorable solo collection of songs. The lyrics are often a perfect combination of ridiculous and moving - which I love so much in Peter Murphy's best songs - as exemplified by Socrates the Python. Time Has Got Nothing To Do With It is fantastic. In contrast, I find Deep to be utterly unmemorable. Cuts You Up was a pretty big hit, and I cannot remember how it goes. I will listen to Deep again though, as I haven't heard it in at least 20 years.

going to try and keep this up to date but i might need some help so it's collaborative.

ILM Love and Rockets, Tones on Tail

Bee OK, Thursday, 31 March 2016 00:19 (ten years ago)

that is the Spotify link.

Bee OK, Thursday, 31 March 2016 00:19 (ten years ago)

pop and seventh dream two of my favorite albums ever and i'm really glad that i bought the u.k. albums when they came out because they totally fucked with them for the u.s. pressings. ruined two perfect albums.

scott seward, Thursday, 31 March 2016 00:24 (ten years ago)

u referring to mastering quality, track substitutions, or both?

the 'major tom guy' (sleeve), Thursday, 31 March 2016 00:25 (ten years ago)

switching stuff around. adding stuff that wasn't on the original album. adding singles.

scott seward, Thursday, 31 March 2016 00:31 (ten years ago)

they have god and mr. smith instead of if there's a heaven above on the u.s. version. lunacy!

scott seward, Thursday, 31 March 2016 00:33 (ten years ago)

one of the best album openers ever. the feel of both albums completely different. and pop with go and twist on it is just not pop! a lysergic masterpiece for pete's sake.

scott seward, Thursday, 31 March 2016 00:35 (ten years ago)

my kinda poll though. three of my favorite bands. and also there is peter murphy. for his fans.

scott seward, Thursday, 31 March 2016 00:41 (ten years ago)

I messed up the artwork, that has nothing to do with Lazy. It is pretty cool however.

Bee OK, Thursday, 31 March 2016 00:47 (ten years ago)

i also had to fix Spotify. for some reason the first version of Express has messed up songs.

Bee OK, Thursday, 31 March 2016 00:57 (ten years ago)

always thought of "Youth" as their Christian song.

Bee OK, Thursday, 31 March 2016 01:04 (ten years ago)

or maybe i'm just thinking about the God Bless part of it.

Bee OK, Thursday, 31 March 2016 01:06 (ten years ago)

i love the way he sings this song. was obsessed with this song at the time. i did vote for it.

Bee OK, Thursday, 31 March 2016 01:12 (ten years ago)

i think it was number 25.

Bee OK, Thursday, 31 March 2016 01:13 (ten years ago)

this was my favorite song as a goth teen. I don't care for the radio edit though!

ejemplo (crüt), Thursday, 31 March 2016 01:14 (ten years ago)

I voted for this too. I like the way he sings winnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd.

LeRooLeRoo, Thursday, 31 March 2016 01:26 (ten years ago)

i was really thinking about doing only a Top 35 as i was thinking songs needed triple digits in points to make the run down. when i saw "Cuts You Up" at 37 and below 100 points i then felt it was OK to keep it at a Top 40. after all there were 84 songs that got votes.

Bee OK, Thursday, 31 March 2016 01:34 (ten years ago)

i did link the video in the voting thread but in the end it did not make my ballot.

Bee OK, Thursday, 31 March 2016 01:41 (ten years ago)

i'm going to drop naming the band in the results, you will know from knowledge, artwork or name of the album.

Bee OK, Thursday, 31 March 2016 02:10 (ten years ago)

the whole Jazz Butcher angle is interesting, glad they were included in voting. it was only fair. will talk about this more after this part of the poll is finished.

Bee OK, Thursday, 31 March 2016 02:17 (ten years ago)

oh hell yeah

Bee OK, Thursday, 31 March 2016 02:20 (ten years ago)

Glad to discover some Jazz Butcher. I never got around to after all these years.

LeRooLeRoo, Thursday, 31 March 2016 02:28 (ten years ago)

i had to check my ballot to make sure i voted for it, i did. felt like i could vote for every song on this album.

Bee OK, Thursday, 31 March 2016 02:37 (ten years ago)

right after i say that, i list the artist. need to wrap this up soon...

Bee OK, Thursday, 31 March 2016 02:49 (ten years ago)

How many are you doing tonight ?

LeRooLeRoo, Thursday, 31 March 2016 02:55 (ten years ago)

Bee OK, Thursday, 31 March 2016 03:00 (ten years ago)

i will get a much earlier start tomorrow.

Bee OK, Thursday, 31 March 2016 03:01 (ten years ago)

i think i voted for this, great song.

Bee OK, Thursday, 31 March 2016 03:04 (ten years ago)

I did. Was always fun to dance to at the alternative/goth night.

LeRooLeRoo, Thursday, 31 March 2016 03:08 (ten years ago)

that funny

Bee OK, Thursday, 31 March 2016 03:12 (ten years ago)

if i remember correctly, i was going through a break up and this became a theme song. one of those perfect timing songs.

Bee OK, Thursday, 31 March 2016 03:13 (ten years ago)

another one i voted for.
