Deftones: Underrated?

And "Phantom Bride" contains something truly shocking.

idk this kinda feels like it's full of left turns. almost every track is differently surprising

i spend most of my life listening to deftones albums tho

only listened to it once, but structurally sounds pretty plain..verse, chorus, bridge, etc.

a lot of deftones songs obey that. but idk "xenon" is like all chorus

god "phantom bride" is so good

the entire closing suite of "gore"/"phantom bride"/"rubicon" rivals "passenger"/"change"/"pink maggit" imo

yeah "Rubicon" is a great closer. Looking forward to a proper version of this.

This thread is the kind of thing I love ILM for -- I remember back in their heyday secretly thinking Deftones sounded pretty tight, but was way too embarrassed to give them more of a chance, let alone admit I thought they were any good.

I've been repping System of a Down for years and they're way more embarrassing. I've even stumped for "Down" by 311.

Oh is Pfork finally making its insanely tardy Deftones about-face official?

Why does it feel like this album is getting much more hype than their last one did? Is it just simply a timing thing due to people being nostalgic for NuMetal or are some publciation trying to make up for the fact that they ignored the last one?
