This sound has been quite popular in Helsinki underground rap for years now. Dunno whether it was inspired by whatever the original post was describing, though I think the original inspiration was chopped & screwed style Southern rap + horrorcore.

I've spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out what the original grim reapah thing was, with no luck. This new stuff sounds totally like some people had been trying to find it, too, and finally got fed up and said "if we can't find it, let's MAKE it".
