This has been fantastic. I don't honestly listen to as much metal as I should these days (I find listening to black metal physically painful: Ash Borer finally did for my ears), but I've been revisiting loads of great sounds, and loads of great memories. And I've had my nine year old screaming 'I hope you make sure we're properly dead before you start!' before breakfast so it's all good.

I've loved the sheer variety in the countdown, there's a lot of stuff I don't care for but it's cool seeing how it all has its place. I've made it my goal to listen to everything I haven't already heard - favourite discoveries so far: Virus and Sacramentum.

The Black Flux is awwwwesome, maybe not the best thing here - it's a little restrained, if anything - but so cool and so nicely-judged. I love it

I like how varied this poll has been, as it should, and if nothing else it's given me an excuse to listen to some things that I've avoided for years because I thought I was too clever for them. Most of them have turned out to be pretty good.

I just remembered that the reason I omitted not just SYL but everything Devin-related was the whole "what is extreme?" question that likewise axed most (traditional) doom.

So pretend I voted for City, Ocean Machine, Terria, and probably Accelerated Evolution, scattered thoughtfully throughout my 100.
