None So Vile transcends everything. It's a fucking monster. It's classical music.

My theory is in pieces now

The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Saturday, 20 February 2016 21:20 (ten years ago)

The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Saturday, 20 February 2016 21:25 (ten years ago)

That Cryptopsy album was one of my first fav brutal DM albums.

gaz coombes? yo he don't got NUTHIN ta prove! (Neanderthal), Saturday, 20 February 2016 21:28 (ten years ago)

"Graves of the Fathers" still makes me flip out

gaz coombes? yo he don't got NUTHIN ta prove! (Neanderthal), Saturday, 20 February 2016 21:29 (ten years ago)

what about rust in peace?

The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Saturday, 20 February 2016 21:29 (ten years ago)

I regret selling my picture disk of that album 20 years ago.

The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Saturday, 20 February 2016 21:29 (ten years ago)

Rust for years I called overrated but in recent years it has become my favorite Megadeth.

"Five Magics" fuckin rules

gaz coombes? yo he don't got NUTHIN ta prove! (Neanderthal), Saturday, 20 February 2016 21:30 (ten years ago)

I don't even like Megadeth that much but Rust in Peace forced its way onto my ballot. Near the bottom, but still. I have to admit it's a thing of beauty.

Devilock, Saturday, 20 February 2016 21:30 (ten years ago)

Megadeths first four albums impeccable altho I ain't superstitious isn't great.

Killing is My Business is a classic of sloppy cocaine thrash

Mustaine occasionally sings like satanic thrash drug addict Cyndi Lauper on Rust which is the only drawback

gaz coombes? yo he don't got NUTHIN ta prove! (Neanderthal), Saturday, 20 February 2016 21:36 (ten years ago)

blimey at the next 2 being so low

The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Saturday, 20 February 2016 21:37 (ten years ago)

I love Rust in Peace unashamedly. And I still have my signed picture disc copy! (And a signed picture disc of No More Mr Nice Guy. The old Record Shop in Kingston. Those were the days.)

Poacher (Chinaski), Saturday, 20 February 2016 21:38 (ten years ago)

Apparently, I didn't even vote for VI. I must not have seen it on the noms list since I voted for IV and I prefer VI.

Hi! I'm twice-coloured! (Sund4r), Saturday, 20 February 2016 21:45 (ten years ago)

What, no complaints that it's too soon for a Botanist album from 2014 to make an all-time list? How...unsurprising.

it is a bit soon but we flogged that horse a while ago

The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Saturday, 20 February 2016 21:46 (ten years ago)

Post I had second thoughts abt:

Weird that the results are so evenly split between actual extreme metal and variously flavored Wire shit

Botanist is great, that Cryptopsy album greater, everyone shut up, the vanity is of useless differences

odysseus (imago), Saturday, 20 February 2016 21:53 (ten years ago)

Doom in Bloom is great. It deserves to come in somewhere around 834 on this list.

somewhere btwn Gabriel Garcia Marquez and early Evel Knievel guy (contenderizer), Saturday, 20 February 2016 21:56 (ten years ago)

But I've always been vain.

I love that Botanist album! That it captures so resolutely the atmosphere of actual plants is wonderful. The vocals are just this faintly perceptible hiss on the underneath of a lotus... It's just this swarming mass of ambient, summery beauty.

In the meantime, Weakling is fantastic so far.

tangenttangent, Saturday, 20 February 2016 21:57 (ten years ago)

Botanist was my #40, which was probably a bit too high tbh, but w/e. ^^^that description nails it

odysseus (imago), Saturday, 20 February 2016 21:58 (ten years ago)

and yeah Weakling is fucking mighty. think we might settle down to some shove ha'penny while it thunders by

odysseus (imago), Saturday, 20 February 2016 21:58 (ten years ago)

how can a band named Weakling sound this enormous?

more surprised at blaze way down here for some reason. thought they got all the kisses.

somewhere btwn Gabriel Garcia Marquez and early Evel Knievel guy (contenderizer), Saturday, 20 February 2016 22:12 (ten years ago)

Curious if Under a Funeral Moon will even make the cut. Others seem to like it much more than I do. Blaze and Transilvanian Hunger on the other hand are both in my top 10.

Devilock, Saturday, 20 February 2016 22:13 (ten years ago)

mmm Seven Churches. I neglected that one for too long.

Devilock, Saturday, 20 February 2016 22:14 (ten years ago)

I only have down to #21 so do you want me to go down to it tonight so the poll should def finish tomorrow assuming frobisher can do it or do i finish at 31 or 26?

No idea whats in the top 20

The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Saturday, 20 February 2016 22:15 (ten years ago)

Dunno what the others think but I'm fine with stopping sooner rather than later. Either way I'll be catching up tomorrow.

Devilock, Saturday, 20 February 2016 22:20 (ten years ago)

i want to make things easier for him but i dont want to overstep the mark. he did seem to want me to go to 26 if i could so i should honour that and see if he pm's me again on fb

yeah, such an awesome gargling mess. in my top 20, but i'm fuck old so no surprise.

somewhere btwn Gabriel Garcia Marquez and early Evel Knievel guy (contenderizer), Saturday, 20 February 2016 22:23 (ten years ago)

ok now we're getting somewhere. I was the Blaze #1, Morbid Tales in my top 10, and def voted for Seven Churches. Blaze was the album that got me really got me into extreme metal. I still listen to it all the time, and though at any particular moment I might prefer a different Darkthrone album to jam as my fave, I can't deny it's most important to me personally.

Dominique, Saturday, 20 February 2016 22:24 (ten years ago)

adam youre too old for the ilx 43 club

The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Saturday, 20 February 2016 22:26 (ten years ago)

Possessed in general took me a while to appreciate, but now, I rank them even higher than I did when we submitted ballots for this. I like pretty much everything they did, including 1991 and 1993 demos which crank up the death metal quotient much higher, and suggest they could have been real contenders for much longer than they were.

I actually considered voting for Thy Kingdom Come, Morbid Angel's '87 demo, as I find it has some of that old school black charm (a la Possessed, German Thrash, Celtic Frost), but as I recall, I did end up opting for Altars

Dominique, Saturday, 20 February 2016 22:27 (ten years ago)

oh and I am 42, can I join the club??

Dominique, Saturday, 20 February 2016 22:27 (ten years ago)

The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Saturday, 20 February 2016 22:28 (ten years ago)
