They're not bad at all though. I feel like A Forest Of Stars owe them a bit
― odysseus (imago), Saturday, 20 February 2016 00:18 (ten years ago)
In fact this sounds a bit like riding a horse through space
― odysseus (imago), Saturday, 20 February 2016 00:25 (ten years ago)
That Yob EP....if you ever find yourself feeling like the ass end of a donkey, that shit is cathartic.

We should all aspire to have a noblest nine minutes.

And ride a horse through space.

There is no excuse for not listening to Krallice sooner.

this is a fine description of summoning
― HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Saturday, 20 February 2016 07:46 (ten years ago)
imago doesnt already love Summoning?
― The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Saturday, 20 February 2016 12:19 (ten years ago)
I've always avoided Summoning and other bands like that because I'm scared I'll black out half way through and wake up LARPing
― space prophet wogan (ultros ultros-ghali), Saturday, 20 February 2016 12:51 (ten years ago)
And I'm afraid that a lot of albums that were released in the last couple of years have placed partially because of me I reckon; I couldn't care less about historical significance really so I voted for the extreme metal albums I enjoy the most.
Can't blame me for Deafheaven though, I hate them for reasons nothing to do with metal elitism, more to do with the fact that they're embarassingly poor
― space prophet wogan (ultros ultros-ghali), Saturday, 20 February 2016 12:54 (ten years ago)
what is your usual reason for being LARPer?
― The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Saturday, 20 February 2016 13:08 (ten years ago)
I'll be honest, I haven't listened to any of the results yet. I'd like to try some of the more classic thrash stuff, I love that Kreator album for instance even though I didn't vote for it. Right now I'm about to check out one of the Deathspell Omega records.
― Tom Violence, Saturday, 20 February 2016 13:50 (ten years ago)
Hey, did Satan's Boundaries Unchained get nominated for this?
― somewhere btwn Gabriel Garcia Marquez and early Evel Knievel guy (contenderizer), Saturday, 20 February 2016 14:39 (ten years ago)
I think they'll probably make a front-to-back masterpiece soon
If they ever play together again that is... They kind of pulled a TNGHT and went on hiatus as soon as people really started to like them.
Are results running today? I almost wish this didn't start up again until Mon, because I'll be in and out over the wkd. But in any case, most of my ballot hasn't shown up yet, so still many hopes held.
― Dominique, Saturday, 20 February 2016 14:41 (ten years ago)
frobisher said he was posting today and tomorrow so i guess it finishes tomorrow
― The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Saturday, 20 February 2016 14:49 (ten years ago)
hello! I'll be posting up #50 soon here, my internet isn't playing nice. It's being really slow again.

no this is fine get it out of the way early
― somewhere btwn Gabriel Garcia Marquez and early Evel Knievel guy (contenderizer), Saturday, 20 February 2016 16:41 (ten years ago)
it's certainly the 50th best extreme metal album ever. this poll is true and well-merited. lol
― Frobisher, Saturday, 20 February 2016 16:44 (ten years ago)
I do really like Sunbather actually, its a great album. I just think its placement so prominent here is hilarious.

Best to gloss over Sunbather. It's fine, but way too high.
Human would have been my no.10! (if I'd got my shit together and voted.)
― Poacher (Chinaski), Saturday, 20 February 2016 16:47 (ten years ago)
if the vote had been reheld i dread to think how many more 2014/2015 albums would have made it. Its far too soon to call anything that recent all-time imo
― The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Saturday, 20 February 2016 16:51 (ten years ago)
who was saying that Death didn't really click with them? I think they were a witch we should burn, iirc.
― Frobisher, Saturday, 20 February 2016 16:51 (ten years ago)
imo if you don't like Carcass and Death ur extreme metal credentials are v. weak.
― Frobisher, Saturday, 20 February 2016 16:52 (ten years ago)
Death are not my favorite. Would probably be okay if they had a decent guitar player though.
― somewhere btwn Gabriel Garcia Marquez and early Evel Knievel guy (contenderizer), Saturday, 20 February 2016 16:53 (ten years ago)
And I only like Carcass from Symphonies on.

I know a lot of people will agree with you but as someone who voted for a fair few recent albums, I put together my ballot based on what I like and what records mean the most to me here and now. If I hear something new that I like more than the older records, I'm not going to hold off voting for it - yes, I might not feel the same about it in five years' time but I'll worry about that then. I might just as easily end up revising my opinion on something from 2001 or 1997 or 1986 in five years' time too.
― Gavin, Leeds, Saturday, 20 February 2016 16:59 (ten years ago)
sorry guys I gotta step away for a bit! I'll be back not too long from now!
― Frobisher, Saturday, 20 February 2016 17:03 (ten years ago)
Probably wouldn't have included any recent stuff if I'd voted. Except Babymetal oc.
― somewhere btwn Gabriel Garcia Marquez and early Evel Knievel guy (contenderizer), Saturday, 20 February 2016 17:10 (ten years ago)

― somewhere btwn Gabriel Garcia Marquez and early Evel Knievel guy (contenderizer), Saturday, 20 February 2016 17:24 (ten years ago)
I bought this album (xpost, Gojira) on eMusic years and years ago, partly because of the band name, partly because of the whale on the cover. I didn't really think of it as extreme. Maybe I'll go back and listen to it again sometime today.
― Tom Violence, Saturday, 20 February 2016 17:24 (ten years ago)
new wave of french space whale
― somewhere btwn Gabriel Garcia Marquez and early Evel Knievel guy (contenderizer), Saturday, 20 February 2016 17:28 (ten years ago)
Ha yeah what Frobisher said upthread about the Angel Hair album cover not being indicative of the music definitely applies to this one.
― Gavin, Leeds, Saturday, 20 February 2016 17:30 (ten years ago)
Just realised we've not had any Gorguts albums yet. Maybe they're all in the top ten?

every gorguts album is better than a high on fire, gojira, electric wizard, or deafheaven record.
― scott seward, Saturday, 20 February 2016 17:45 (ten years ago)
so maybe they will all come later.
Just wanna say as an outsider, but def metalcurious, this thread has been a boon. Been sampling almost everything; good reading too. Thx dudes.

I voted for Gorguts! We haven't seen Cryptopsy or Incantation either -- really, what brutal DM has placed?
