Way too low, like their guitar tone.

Listening to Warning. Okay I think I'm gonna like this.
― moans and feedback (Dinsdale), Thursday, 18 February 2016 21:01 (ten years ago)
when that Warning album placed in the all-time metal poll john justen was like where has this album been all my life
― The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Thursday, 18 February 2016 21:05 (ten years ago)
I think I like his singing better on the 40 Watt Sun album. Just nitpicking though.
― moans and feedback (Dinsdale), Thursday, 18 February 2016 21:07 (ten years ago)
I kinda prefer the prettier 40 Watt Sun to Warning. They're both out of this world though.
edit: jinx
― Devilock, Thursday, 18 February 2016 21:08 (ten years ago)

Am greatly enjoying this thread and the discussion, even if 40% of it is unknown to me so far. I've been plugging into Spotify and following along. Thanks Frobisher!
Looking forward to seeing if LJ picked Formula by Old Lady Drivers.

I love that this album exists, and that this band made it, but I don't listen to it often. One for special occasions

What is the highest amount of votes an album has had so far? 5? 6?
the big 4 of thrash are gonna win this poll due to being established classics everyone has heard right?
― The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Thursday, 18 February 2016 21:23 (ten years ago)
5 votes are the most so far, eventually we head into the 7-9 vote territory! exciting!
― Frobisher, Thursday, 18 February 2016 21:24 (ten years ago)
hi thread, i love gojira, bye thread
― Spottie, Thursday, 18 February 2016 21:24 (ten years ago)

― Frobisher, Thursday, 18 February 2016 21:25 (ten years ago)
4 people will vote the same albums by the big 4 in the same place so the winner will be 400 points. im calling it now. SlayerMetallicawith 2 each in the top 4
― The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Thursday, 18 February 2016 21:25 (ten years ago)
master of puppets vs reign in blood for 400 points
― The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Thursday, 18 February 2016 21:26 (ten years ago)
Pantera splitting them from whatever else makes it with 4 votes
remember imagos 90s poll when an album with one vote won?
― The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Thursday, 18 February 2016 21:27 (ten years ago)
Spottie is gonna have to do better than that if he doesn't want me picturing him tapping F5 every 30 seconds. 1-minute response time!
― odysseus (imago), Thursday, 18 February 2016 21:29 (ten years ago)
There's a Jute Gyte thread creeping up the board with someone asking if there are instrumental JG albums. Will someone with Jute Gyte experience pls report to the Jute Gyte thread.
Also I do like Gojira but forgot to include them.
― Devilock, Thursday, 18 February 2016 21:31 (ten years ago)
I'm lurking! I have some opinions itt but really i don't know about 50% of these groups cos metal isn't my go to. also today is the nba trade deadline so Im living in ILH threads atm
― Spottie, Thursday, 18 February 2016 21:34 (ten years ago)
Yeah, it's seeming like the top 10 is going to be very close, and the #1 is almost sure to be polarizing. This poll is illustrating how "extreme metal" means different things to different people, and how varied a genre it is.
― Dominique, Thursday, 18 February 2016 21:34 (ten years ago)
I like From Mars to Sirius by Gojira but for some reason never felt like hearing anything else of theirs. For some reason I don't think of them as an extreme metal band either but i don't know

great album
― The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Thursday, 18 February 2016 21:41 (ten years ago)
the top 10 im guessing is going to be by far the most predictable part of the poll
Coroner, one of many current favorite bands that originally would turn my friend and I into Beavis and Butthead while watching Headbangers Ball back in the day.
― Devilock, Thursday, 18 February 2016 21:42 (ten years ago)
Even though some thrash metal albums are my all time favourites I kept them out of the top 20 because it doesn't feel good to have them win an "extreme metal" poll...but the sheer number of votes (these are albums *everyone* had heard) will propel them to the top anyway. But at least it's more defensible than stuff like Mastodon/Converge/Stara Rzeka which is can certainly be argued as extreme in a way but not really very metal.
Glad Winter made it to the top 100! All I can ask for, really. I don't think this record will be an eye opener to anyone who hears it anno 2016 (or anywhere in the past 15 years really) but when it came out it was completely singular.
― Siegbran, Thursday, 18 February 2016 21:42 (ten years ago)
its obvious what big albums on ilm that everyone loves. its just the order that isnt predictable. Pantera might not make the top 10 mind you. not a lot of love for them round here.
Hvis lyset tar oss is bound to be top 10 and that might piss ppl off as much as any pantera
― The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Thursday, 18 February 2016 21:44 (ten years ago)
Winter and Earth certainly were out on their own when I first heard them

metallica with 3 albums and slayer with 2 will be the top 5. fuck knows what order tho. cuz everyone knows and loves those albums. The sabbath & zep of thrash metal.
Darkthrone for highest place BM album no idea what death metal album will be highest.
― The Call Of Cthulow (Cosmic Slop), Thursday, 18 February 2016 21:46 (ten years ago)
Siegbran, were people talking about Celtic Frost then? That was the first thing I thought of when I heard it.
