Australian top-5-charting, self-released pop group Sneaky S0und Sy5tem have evidently been touring the UK, and their showpony frontman wrote a tour diary for the weekly clubber's newspaper back home in Sydney:

I wonder how The Archers took to that; R4 listeners must be expanding their musical consciousness!
― krakow, Sunday, 12 April 2009 07:20 (seventeen years ago)
You can guess which bandmember typed that:

which member? does optimo's venue not have any lights at all?
really really liking the florence & machine remix but i don't dj with vinyl and can't find an mp3 of it - says here that "Optimo take on one of the hottest bands around - florence & the machine. supplying two remixes which will never be released on any other format" booooo. twitch, if you're around, check your myspace!
― NI, Sunday, 12 April 2009 19:58 (seventeen years ago)
that feature is odd as i met those guys on the night and they seemed to know what the club was. they were telling me they have been doing a sunday night club in sydney for ten years. is that right?
also, i should point out, we have lots of lights. in fact, we are ALL about the lights. i guess he was going for dramatic effect there.
NI - here's the vocal remix of florence and the machine -

ps - NI, checked my myspace but you weren't there.
― stirmonster, Monday, 13 April 2009 07:34 (seventeen years ago)
Short hair in suit is the one that started and ran the Sunday night, topless blond Prince Valiant ostensibly wrote the piece, if that makes any difference re who you spoke to...
― Bostin' Legal (sic), Monday, 13 April 2009 07:52 (seventeen years ago)
just seen these replies now and missed the YSI file before it got nixed, doh. i've messaged you (at the optimo espacio myspace) again twitch, i think there's been some crossed wires?
would love to see footage or photos of the optimo lights btw, or even a description of them. saying optimo is 'ALL about the lights' has piqued my interest!
― NI, Wednesday, 15 April 2009 12:03 (seventeen years ago)
have replied - i think there was some confusion as a few people check and reply to the myspace messages. it perhaps isn't "all about the lights" but we have some custom made light boxes and neon signs. i don't have any photos to hand i'm afraid.

Do you know what time you might be on this Friday at T bar, stirmonster?
I'd love to go but can't stay out super late
― Jamie T Smith, Thursday, 25 June 2009 09:30 (sixteen years ago)
they have been a tad slack in giving me any info. i will post back when i find out. i'm hoping not super late either as i have an intense weekend and could do with fitting in some sleep at some point.

― samosa gibreel, Monday, 27 July 2009 03:00 (sixteen years ago)

― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Monday, 27 July 2009 03:20 (sixteen years ago)
I can't answer for the Optimo guys obviously but could it be the Krikor edit ("Goodbye Horses" without the chorus, just keeps building up?)
― Telephone thing, Monday, 27 July 2009 03:22 (sixteen years ago)
it was the krikor edit with a loop of this insanely heavy felix da housecat drum track mixed over it.
i dunno if it is, or ever was cool, but it's still immensely good fun. tonight - amazing crowd + amazing atmosphere + gavin russom live analogue intensity = my perfect club night.
― stirmonster, Monday, 27 July 2009 05:07 (sixteen years ago)

Nah that's cool, it's a great poster! Hmmm can I make it up to Glasgow that weekend?
― Neil S, Thursday, 6 August 2009 18:48 (sixteen years ago)
OK, so about 1:44:00 into Optimo's incredible Essential Mix, they drop this jaw-dropping remix of "Hallogallo", labeled as the "Mary Hill Rework". I have been searching for this thing for well over a year and a half, and the only other mention I can find of it is on http://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/5956. Has anyone ever come across this before?? Was it rereleased under a different moniker/title/etc? I would kind of sell my kidney to get a hold of this...

Is it Dingered & Rothered - Betty Botox?
off Betty's sublime kraut ep.
― my opinionation (Hamildan), Tuesday, 18 August 2009 10:04 (sixteen years ago)
i'm afraid the remix of "hallogallo" was never released. it was done by jg wilkes and we did talk about putting it out but that idea fell by the wayside somewhere along the line.

― claws of jungle red (Stevie D), Tuesday, 18 August 2009 17:13 (sixteen years ago)
Is it from the Mount Florida/Mary Hill Krautrock split that was announced/unreleased?
― claws of jungle red (Stevie D), Tuesday, 18 August 2009 17:38 (sixteen years ago)
Holy shit, this Betty Botox KRAUT EP is quite sublime, indeed!!
― claws of jungle red (Stevie D), Tuesday, 18 August 2009 18:59 (sixteen years ago)
it was indeed. the mount florida track ended up on betty's kraut ep.

Todd Terje lists the Optimo Remix of They Came From The Stars I Saw Them as his number 1 in his dj chart on juno this month (even though it came out nearly 3 years ago...!)

P.S. stirmonster I saw you at the Barbary in Philly back in January (and shook your hand and told you how much I loved "How to Kill the DJ, part 2") and it was one of the greatest things my friend and I ever saw. Do you remember the show well? How was it in relation to a typical night at Optimo?
― claws of jungle red (Stevie D), Thursday, 27 August 2009 14:49 (sixteen years ago)

Damn, "In Order to Edit" kills, that Speedjack-into-The-Mover transition is astonishing- not to be all old skool bruv, but it brings me back to hearing The Mover DJ at VFM many many many years ago.
