oh hell yeah. This was in my top 5, and IMO is the best thing Sodom ever did (with their follow up full-length being a close second). Raw, simple, not really dated at all, especially when you consider how many bands still go for that old school black metal sound
― Dominique, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 16:18 (ten years ago)
does anyone really listen to that Sigh album anymore? it would make me too tired to play it now.
― scott seward, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 16:21 (ten years ago)
maybe Mr.Bungle fans...
― scott seward, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 16:22 (ten years ago)
i probably listen to meshuggah more now than i did when those albums listed came out. i'm into precision riffs these days.

any passionate opinions on Death? I find it hard to get into this band for some reason.
― Dominique, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 16:46 (ten years ago)
I think they're amazing! I love them!

Lysol!!!
I didn't care for Death at the time but I grew to really like them. So much better than the brutal DM you get now IMO
― Cosmic Slop, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 16:51 (ten years ago)
Yeah when it comes to DM, Death is one of my favorites. Corrupted as well.
― Frobisher, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 16:53 (ten years ago)
I love Death's final albums - Human, Individual Thought Patterns, Symbolic and to a lesser degree The Sound of Perseverance. Don't care about anything before that. I wrote about them back in 2011.
― the top man in the language department (誤訳侮辱), Wednesday, 17 February 2016 16:53 (ten years ago)
That Ambergris EP is a mystery to me. I couldn't find much about it searching online.
― Frobisher, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 16:55 (ten years ago)
So is this death metal or black metal?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiDXIkeE3sY
― jmm, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 16:55 (ten years ago)
Also, while Melvins' 5000 other albums are on spotify, but not Lysol. go figure.
ambergris the 70's band? that album isn't that hot. great cover obviously.
― scott seward, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 16:56 (ten years ago)
Corrupted arent death metal tho. funeral doom maybe. but they cover so many styles you cant really pigeonhole them. I hope there's more Corrupted and Death to come.
Phil - those albums are awesome
― Cosmic Slop, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 16:56 (ten years ago)
lol. See, I don't think I even found the right album cover for this! Unless someone nominated some obscure soul/r&b and then colluded with two others to vote for it.
― Frobisher, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 16:57 (ten years ago)
first six death albums should be on here. and all their demo tapes.
― scott seward, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 16:59 (ten years ago)
thanks for that Phil -- I need to spend more time with Death in general. I want to like them, and I do listen to Scream Bloody Gore, but I guess I prefer stuff like either earlier Possessed or later Autopsy.
― Dominique, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 16:59 (ten years ago)
Here's a possible Ambergris.

― jmm, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 17:04 (ten years ago)
Wish I'd voted on this! I've recently dug out some old death metal vinyl and Human still sounds unbelievable. Fwiw if push came to shove I'd probably have voted for Clandestine. Currently I'd quite happily settle for Garten der Unbewusstheit.
― Poacher (Chinaski), Wednesday, 17 February 2016 17:04 (ten years ago)
I love Symbolic and The Sound of Perseverance and haven't listened to the others enough. "Crystal Mountain" is the most amazing song.
― jmm, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 17:06 (ten years ago)
jmm that's probably it. thanks!

theres about 500 albums that we would all be happy if they could appear in the top 100, right?Im worrying tho that since so much great stuff is appearing so low down that the top 10 will be an anti climax of metallica, slayer, megadeth, pantera, anthrax, sepultura and bill magill moaning there's no black sabbath
― Cosmic Slop, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 17:16 (ten years ago)
I have no idea how this poll will go. Agreed, some really great stuff has already appeared, and I didn't do much campaigning for my faves, so not even sure they will place at all, much less near the top.
― Dominique, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 17:17 (ten years ago)
the top 10 i imagine is predictable mostly but looks like absolutely anything could place if it only needs 3-5 votes
― Cosmic Slop, Wednesday, 17 February 2016 17:23 (ten years ago)
I don't want to give anything away but I don't think Pantera is featured heavily. :)

I know everyone loves Take As Needed For Pain, but to me Dopesick is definitely Eyehategod's best album. I saw them about a year after it came out, and the show I was at is on YouTube:
