lol

AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Friday, 12 February 2016 16:09 (ten years ago)

it feels hurried...and somewhat sloppy

maybe the most unforgivably stupid thing Kanye West has ever rapped

it comes off as both his most labored-over and unfinished album

there are moments here where he just sounds like another asshole

9.0

Wimmels, Monday, 15 February 2016 14:21 (ten years ago)

Rating first, review later.

the top man in the language department (誤訳侮辱), Monday, 15 February 2016 14:47 (ten years ago)

Maybe they'll keep revising the score over the next few days.

MarkoP, Monday, 15 February 2016 14:59 (ten years ago)

Since when was it a critic's job to criticize Kanye for the stupid shit he says in his music?

pitchforkian at best (cryptosicko), Monday, 15 February 2016 15:00 (ten years ago)

Rushing out a review this quickly and criticizing the album for being "hurried" is pretty funny, although I doubt intentionally so. Whole album review section is such a mess these days.

Position Position, Monday, 15 February 2016 16:05 (ten years ago)

i liked the review.

xp i was gonna also make the joke that they should change the score every 2 days.

billstevejim, Monday, 15 February 2016 18:56 (ten years ago)

I also thought this was a very good review and if this is "rushed" then it's a far better rush job than anything I've ever written

yeah i really like that review

oh. ok, sorry.

alpine static, Tuesday, 16 February 2016 08:22 (ten years ago)

reading it again that seems obvious :)

alpine static, Tuesday, 16 February 2016 08:22 (ten years ago)

can someone tell some Pfork editors what a fucking shuffle beat is cuz apparently they have no clue:

It’s nearly impossible, hearing Page France’s giddily twee "Trampoline" or Cotton Jones’ roadhouse shuffle "Blood Red Sentimental Blues,"

Can't say I'm surprised by this

Pitchfork finally ends their coverage of underground/independent nobodies to realize their true calling: Covering the most popular pop, rap and R&B albums on the planet.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Tuesday, 1 March 2016 16:14 (ten years ago)

my favorite thing on pitchfork!

scott seward, Tuesday, 1 March 2016 16:17 (ten years ago)

happy to read individual ilxOrs reviews on pitchfork cuz they tend to be some of the only things worth reading on there but marc's column was just a great resource for cool new weird stuff i might not have heard about otherwise.

scott seward, Tuesday, 1 March 2016 16:18 (ten years ago)

it's going to live on at their tumblr, right?

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 1 March 2016 16:21 (ten years ago)

yeah a bummer, my favorite thing, too -- kind of surprising, really, seems like it covered a good niche that pfork wouldn't want to entirely abandon, even if it wasn't going to be a huge source of clicks. makes me wonder how long my column will last over there (though I'm a little mystified that it's lasted as long as it has).
and yeah, they're going to continue doing the 200 words thing on tumblr... http://the-out-door.tumblr.com/

This is in the mail, too, I bet.

Wimmels, Tuesday, 1 March 2016 18:25 (ten years ago)

curious to hear the reason for this

marcos, Tuesday, 1 March 2016 18:26 (ten years ago)

rhymes with "blondie blast"

Wimmels, Tuesday, 1 March 2016 18:27 (ten years ago)

idk all good features die eventually. nabisco and tom ewing used to have weekly columns. 6 years seems like a good run for this kinda thing, and marc will still write for the site.

flopson, Tuesday, 1 March 2016 18:52 (ten years ago)

i miss my column for the pitchfork magazine. i never got to write about my favorite randyandy album!
