lol ok

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Saturday, 6 February 2016 21:18 (ten years ago)

it's resonating with me pretty heavily bc it's paced like 56 nights, extremely focused at its start and gently expanding about halfway through ("seven rings" -> "fly shit only")

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Saturday, 6 February 2016 21:22 (ten years ago)

plus "maybach" bangs

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Saturday, 6 February 2016 21:23 (ten years ago)

^otm that stood out the most to me 1st listen

johnny crunch, Saturday, 6 February 2016 21:32 (ten years ago)

this is easier to listen to front to back than ds 2, maybe there's a couple "higher highs" on the latter (not including the bonus tracks obv) but i also just like the production more, the idea that all these tracks sound the same though is completely insane

but "lie to me" & "low life" are my favs on this i think if only bcuz he sort of steps out of this real narrow frame of mind for a second

yea feeling this too

johnny crunch, Sunday, 7 February 2016 00:07 (ten years ago)

i think "ain't no time," "maybach," "photo copied," "seven rings" and "fly shit only" are my faves. really impressed with the whole thing tho, even the weeknd's presence on "low life" doesn't screw anything up

metro slothrop want some more (slothroprhymes), Sunday, 7 February 2016 17:22 (ten years ago)

ehhhhhh, I prefer the slight, new thug. y'all can keep this version of future, I have no use for it.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Sunday, 7 February 2016 17:40 (ten years ago)

word

Hey (Extended Mix), Sunday, 7 February 2016 22:59 (ten years ago)

this is so much better than "i'm up" (and "purple reign" too)

ANU (sisilafami), Monday, 8 February 2016 00:04 (ten years ago)

Maybe it's better to people who can get any enjoyment out of this incarnation of Future and that's fine, but I can't get with his current music at all.

Hey (Extended Mix), Monday, 8 February 2016 00:20 (ten years ago)

The sudden appearance of a no dj Substitute Everything on this J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League sampler sealed it for me. That's the Future I'll always need.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Monday, 8 February 2016 02:00 (ten years ago)

let me just drop this in here for ahem future reference

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Monday, 8 February 2016 06:52 (ten years ago)

i don't think my problem with purple reign or evol is really qualitative so much as just a SURFEIT of future. i'm a fan of the nihilistic tunnel vision but there's no reason for this much material to have been released, who the fuck needs that much future in their lives? at this point it's not showing me anything i haven't heard from him and the quality of the songs/beats would need to be amazing rather than fine to transcend that.

cher guevara (lex pretend), Monday, 8 February 2016 17:53 (ten years ago)

i mean this is the ultimate listening-as-churn, mixtape to tide people with goldfish attention spans over for another week, it feels completely pointless even listening knowing that another identical one will probably be along in a month and there's no way these songs are ever going to become part of my life or mean anything to me

cher guevara (lex pretend), Monday, 8 February 2016 17:54 (ten years ago)

i don't think the thug mixtape is any great shakes either. evol is probably better.

J0rdan S., Monday, 8 February 2016 18:23 (ten years ago)

i listened to both and my thoughts are m/l "fuck the da lady in her mouth tho" vs "herca herca les". leaning towards the former

r|t|c, Monday, 8 February 2016 18:43 (ten years ago)

The Thug tape isn't great but at least it has about four songs where the rapper sounds alive and guest appearances by his sisters.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Monday, 8 February 2016 19:04 (ten years ago)

i like the thug tape but it's definitely a minor pleasure. i do think his minor pleasures are better than future's (so i'd take it over 'purple reign')

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Monday, 8 February 2016 22:21 (ten years ago)

yeah im ready for futures next phase, not to sound ungrateful

I actually like Purple Reign better than EVOL so far, but I've only listened to the latter twice. None of the songs have connected like "Perkys Calling" or "Purple Reign" have with me, though "In Her Mouth" indeed bangs.

thom yorke state of mind (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 9 February 2016 02:48 (ten years ago)

two weeks pass...

finally listened to that "substitute everything" track and it is indeed great

metro slothrop want some more (slothroprhymes), Friday, 26 February 2016 21:01 (ten years ago)

one month passes...

EVOL bangs

hot doug stamper (||||||||), Saturday, 2 April 2016 15:42 (ten years ago)

nice

lag∞n, Friday, 24 June 2016 14:32 (nine years ago)

been far too long since future released something new.

StillAdvance, Friday, 24 June 2016 14:34 (nine years ago)

tracklist is v guest-heavy, breaking future's recent mold of entirely/almost entirely solo stuff

if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Friday, 24 June 2016 16:04 (nine years ago)

it is credited to esco hosted by future tho hes on all but 2 tracks

lag∞n, Friday, 24 June 2016 16:06 (nine years ago)

3!

lag∞n, Friday, 24 June 2016 16:07 (nine years ago)

there are skits on this one, many of y'all may prob want to wait for the DJ-free version that'll prob show up on soundcloud or streaming services

if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Friday, 24 June 2016 17:14 (nine years ago)

stupidly crazy is nice

johnny crunch, Friday, 24 June 2016 17:41 (nine years ago)

yeah it is - on first listen I was thinking "this is a hell of a banger for an odd future affiliate showcase" then realized it was a mustard beat, that'd be why

if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Saturday, 25 June 2016 14:25 (nine years ago)

the non-future tracks are all decent to good, although they don't fit that well with the sound and mood of the rest of the tape

if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Saturday, 25 June 2016 15:03 (nine years ago)

When Future gets enthusiastic in conversation, which isn't often, the music lurking in his drawl comes out. "They raising them. They young. Fresh. Partying till six in the morning. They're doing that shit every night."

if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Wednesday, 29 June 2016 18:27 (nine years ago)

i liked this line:

Six feet three with long, blond-tipped dreads, top-notch cheekbones and the sleepy swagger of the high school athlete he once was, he looks less like an actual rapper than a movie star cast as one.

Steve Gunn Mann-Dude (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 29 June 2016 18:53 (nine years ago)

lil bit rude but maybe a lil bit true too
