it's resonating with me pretty heavily bc it's paced like 56 nights, extremely focused at its start and gently expanding about halfway through ("seven rings" -> "fly shit only")

plus "maybach" bangs

^otm that stood out the most to me 1st listen

this is easier to listen to front to back than ds 2, maybe there's a couple "higher highs" on the latter (not including the bonus tracks obv) but i also just like the production more, the idea that all these tracks sound the same though is completely insane

but "lie to me" & "low life" are my favs on this i think if only bcuz he sort of steps out of this real narrow frame of mind for a second

i think "ain't no time," "maybach," "photo copied," "seven rings" and "fly shit only" are my faves. really impressed with the whole thing tho, even the weeknd's presence on "low life" doesn't screw anything up

Maybe it's better to people who can get any enjoyment out of this incarnation of Future and that's fine, but I can't get with his current music at all.

The sudden appearance of a no dj Substitute Everything on this J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League sampler sealed it for me. That's the Future I'll always need.

i don't think my problem with purple reign or evol is really qualitative so much as just a SURFEIT of future. i'm a fan of the nihilistic tunnel vision but there's no reason for this much material to have been released, who the fuck needs that much future in their lives? at this point it's not showing me anything i haven't heard from him and the quality of the songs/beats would need to be amazing rather than fine to transcend that.

i mean this is the ultimate listening-as-churn, mixtape to tide people with goldfish attention spans over for another week, it feels completely pointless even listening knowing that another identical one will probably be along in a month and there's no way these songs are ever going to become part of my life or mean anything to me

i don't think the thug mixtape is any great shakes either. evol is probably better.

i listened to both and my thoughts are m/l "fuck the da lady in her mouth tho" vs "herca herca les". leaning towards the former

The Thug tape isn't great but at least it has about four songs where the rapper sounds alive and guest appearances by his sisters.

i like the thug tape but it's definitely a minor pleasure. i do think his minor pleasures are better than future's (so i'd take it over 'purple reign')

yeah im ready for futures next phase, not to sound ungrateful

tho ill prob get into the new stuff at some point i just need a lil break

I actually like Purple Reign better than EVOL so far, but I've only listened to the latter twice. None of the songs have connected like "Perkys Calling" or "Purple Reign" have with me, though "In Her Mouth" indeed bangs.

the non-future tracks are all decent to good, although they don't fit that well with the sound and mood of the rest of the tape
