That's so strange, because the Polaris Prize deems it Canadian.

A. Begrand, Wednesday, 3 February 2016 18:40 (ten years ago)

I could be wrong, but I believe that for Polaris just the artist has to be Canadian. Tbh I am just guessing why it was omitted.

Sharkie, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 13:47 (ten years ago)

Chewshabadoo, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 15:11 (ten years ago)

Controversy[edit]
Ahead of Daft Punk's 2013 album release Random Access Memories, the band were accused of unmasking Daft Punk with photos of the band playing beer-pong with champagne glasses in Columbia Records' offices.[29] The band responded that they did not take the photos, which were in fact a re-post from another user, and furthermore many pictures of Daft Punk without masks freely and openly exist.

gr8080, Wednesday, 24 February 2016 01:31 (ten years ago)

I enjoyed it, but then I seem to like everything involving Carly, so look elsewhere for critical analysis.

The Emotion remix+ Japanese exclusive EP comes with two new tracks and ummmm they're both great, especially First Time.

Is everyone ready for the era of PC Music Carly Rae? It's a speculative leap from just an Instagram pic, for sure, but...

Sushi and the Banchan (Spectrist), Thursday, 17 March 2016 18:39 (ten years ago)

omg "first time"

Number None, Thursday, 17 March 2016 18:42 (ten years ago)

if i know carly -- and i don't, really -- but she would never adopt the guile and cynicism of PC music, it's just not her aesthetic.

Treeship, Thursday, 17 March 2016 18:48 (ten years ago)

*indicates "first time" upthread* guys GUYS

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Thursday, 17 March 2016 18:50 (ten years ago)

"fever" is also super great

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Thursday, 17 March 2016 18:51 (ten years ago)

yeah yeah that's all fine and good but I think the real important focus here is garbage musicians PC Music

There was a hole bunch of problems whit his campaigns (crüt), Thursday, 17 March 2016 18:58 (ten years ago)

"PC Music Carly Rae"

Hard pass.

Greer, Thursday, 17 March 2016 19:03 (ten years ago)

To be fair, she's worked with worse garbage than PC Music. And isn't Danny L Harle one of the better artists in the PC Music collective?

MarkoP, Thursday, 17 March 2016 19:12 (ten years ago)

PC Music is not cynical!!!!

sexy dander (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 17 March 2016 19:13 (ten years ago)

she's worked with worse garbage than PC Music

haha true i still can't shake the nightmarish memories of that Owl City collab :[

There was a hole bunch of problems whit his campaigns (crüt), Thursday, 17 March 2016 19:14 (ten years ago)

there is way too much detail and effort put into PC Music stuff for it to be made by someone who hates it

sexy dander (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 17 March 2016 19:15 (ten years ago)

two new songs would be highlights on either emotion or kiss, god who gives a shit about pc music

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Thursday, 17 March 2016 19:22 (ten years ago)

if we ever see whatever writing comes out of that uh single instagram picture i imagine it won't be half as bad as charli's tangent with sophie

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Thursday, 17 March 2016 19:23 (ten years ago)

two new beautiful gifts from Carly Rae

I love them both so much already

bunny slopes, Thursday, 17 March 2016 19:41 (ten years ago)

between this and the 25% off coupon i got at the grocery store today is great

maura, Thursday, 17 March 2016 19:58 (ten years ago)

yeah these new songs are fantastic

ufo, Thursday, 17 March 2016 21:38 (ten years ago)

Freaking out abt seeing her tomorrow. Still can't believe she's playing literally every song from the deluxe ed of E MO TION except my favorite ("Black Heart") but don't even care

sexy dander (Stevie D(eux)), Saturday, 19 March 2016 21:25 (ten years ago)

pc music are EVEN WORSE than owl city

their cynicism or not is irrelevant to how awful they are in every way

cher guevara (lex pretend), Saturday, 19 March 2016 23:34 (ten years ago)

also i am so glad to have found, among self-identifying pop fans, others who only rate e-mo-tion as 6 or 7/10

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Sunday, 20 March 2016 00:01 (ten years ago)

still waiting to find, among self-identifying pop fans, people who spell _Emotion_ as it should be spelled

(it's a 6.5/7 for me, _Kiss_ is like an 8.5/9 though)

a self-reinforcing downward spiral of male-centric indie (katherine), Sunday, 20 March 2016 14:57 (ten years ago)

just saw her in Bmore and it was soooooo great omg

sexy dander (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 21 March 2016 04:42 (ten years ago)

very happy to see her again last week although the show was less intense than the NYC one last fall (crowd was a bit dud). CRJ's two new songs are OK (she did one of them live) but I'm growing tired of the 80s production esthetic. I really wonder which direction she'll be taking for her next album already.

Sharkie, Monday, 28 March 2016 17:49 (ten years ago)

"Now, it’s all about figuring out what’s next, and Jepsen is excited by the possibilities. “I called my A&R guy and asked if it it would be cool if I went away for three years and came back with a 45-song deluxe edition. And he was like that’s super weird — you can’t do that. I fought for it for a while before I had enough people tell me, yeah, this won’t ever happen so you need to let it go.”" http://www.stereogum.com/featured/all-that-we-could-do-with-this-emotion/
