idk to me it mostly sounds like passion pit with a recording budget

the naive cockney chorus (Simon H.), Saturday, 16 January 2016 14:59 (ten years ago)

sounds ready-made for a dozen official remixes

gr8080, Saturday, 16 January 2016 23:26 (ten years ago)

SNL on feb. 6 with larry david :-p

J0rdan S., Sunday, 24 January 2016 22:21 (ten years ago)

early reports from ppl who have heard the promo suggest it is "moody" "mellow" and "atmospheric"

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Wednesday, 27 January 2016 02:18 (ten years ago)

sounds great

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 27 January 2016 02:18 (ten years ago)

agreed

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Wednesday, 27 January 2016 02:29 (ten years ago)

c'mon, dont't tease me more, I'm so anxious... there's no band nowadays that replicate the best the person that I am and my tastes. ugh

Nourry, Wednesday, 27 January 2016 03:00 (ten years ago)

that's excellent news

seeing them live confirmed that The Sound is definitely their best song so far

ufo, Wednesday, 27 January 2016 03:29 (ten years ago)

I'm so ready for the new album.

self-clowning oven (Murgatroid), Wednesday, 27 January 2016 07:40 (ten years ago)

I heard "Love Me" on the radio the other day and it sounded good on the radio.

The Reverend, Wednesday, 27 January 2016 21:32 (ten years ago)

I suspect it will be something of an anomaly on the album. In a lot of ways it 's a gesture-song.

Tim F, Wednesday, 27 January 2016 21:38 (ten years ago)

The world needs our album

cpl593H, Thursday, 28 January 2016 18:15 (ten years ago)

agreed

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Thursday, 28 January 2016 18:26 (ten years ago)

i don't know about the world, but i do need it.

Nourry, Friday, 5 February 2016 00:59 (ten years ago)

omg the snl performance

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Sunday, 7 February 2016 09:03 (ten years ago)

i died

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 7 February 2016 09:29 (ten years ago)

I liked their performance but they were definite victims of SNL sound. Could barely even hear the singing at times

thom yorke state of mind (voodoo chili), Sunday, 7 February 2016 16:29 (ten years ago)

im mad they didn't play "ugh"

J0rdan S., Sunday, 7 February 2016 18:37 (ten years ago)

i didnt get to watch the whole show did they only do the one song?

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 7 February 2016 18:41 (ten years ago)

they haven't been playing "ugh" live at all so i wasn't surprised. they played "the sound" and "love me"

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Sunday, 7 February 2016 18:50 (ten years ago)

they said they haven't rehearsed Ugh enough yet but I expect they'll start playing it once the album comes out

ufo, Sunday, 7 February 2016 18:53 (ten years ago)

also "love me" and "the sound" are way bigger hits so i wasn't exactly surprised

J0rdan S., Sunday, 7 February 2016 19:00 (ten years ago)

Lead singer annoying on SNL, and whole thing sounded a little meh, but TV sound not reliable, and I'll check the alb because of this thread (thanks, I hope)

dow, Sunday, 7 February 2016 19:31 (ten years ago)

The performance of 'the sound' is probably the best thing I've seen in my life.

Nourry, Sunday, 7 February 2016 20:26 (ten years ago)

I think Matt could tone down on the mugging just a bit. I mean I know half of his lyrics are having a dig at himself but I think eventually it starts to undercut the emotional force of the songs. He should save it for key jokes. "You're so conceited! I said I loved you! What does it matter if I lied to you?" would be funnier if he delivered it like it wasn't funny.

Tim F, Sunday, 7 February 2016 20:41 (ten years ago)

I was also disappointed at first that they didn't do "UGH!" but it's probably better that such a perfect song isn't sullied by SNL's awful sound

self-clowning oven (Murgatroid), Sunday, 7 February 2016 20:47 (ten years ago)

i sort of agree but he also reminds me of me at karaoke

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Sunday, 7 February 2016 22:40 (ten years ago)

he's doing a permanent super-drunk-young-mick-jagger & I'm totally ok with it

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 7 February 2016 23:02 (ten years ago)

studio version of "somebody else" may or may not come out this week

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Monday, 8 February 2016 14:41 (ten years ago)

(Healy has gotten very into Connecticut-formed post-rock collective the World Is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die recently: “They’ve got the best name ever.”)

lol of course

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Tuesday, 9 February 2016 18:11 (ten years ago)

also: Where gauzy, instrumental dream-pop made up a couple of interludes on the debut, it encompasses entire bends of the 1975’s new record.

Nourry, Thursday, 11 February 2016 19:22 (ten years ago)

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Thursday, 11 February 2016 19:28 (ten years ago)

why link to an audio rip? whyyyy? there is video of that, available internationally, with no ads. idgi!!

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 11 February 2016 19:32 (ten years ago)

there was one but then it disappeared. at least here where i am. sorry. no pun intended.

Nourry, Thursday, 11 February 2016 19:42 (ten years ago)

lol the "sorry" cover

J0rdan S., Thursday, 11 February 2016 20:00 (ten years ago)

Haha these guys

Tim F, Thursday, 11 February 2016 21:07 (ten years ago)

whewww "the sound" can like reaaaaally transform u in the right moment, the right moment being v off your face in a gay club. greatest clubbing experience since i had a breakdown to "only girl in the world" in 2010 maybe

& i like it being down at track 13 on the album, i feel like this eruption is gonna feel really earned following these "moody" "atmospheric" slow burners like the six and a half minute title track that precedes it & it's gonna be akin to "faith" on armor on ok

uberweiss, Thursday, 11 February 2016 22:44 (ten years ago)

apparently the album ends with three v depressing songs too so it'll be a very isolated "up" moment

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Thursday, 11 February 2016 22:45 (ten years ago)

whewww "the sound" can like reaaaaally transform u in the right moment, the right moment being v off your face in a gay club.

I don't hold out much hope of this happening in gay clubs in Melbourne ;_;

Tim F, Thursday, 11 February 2016 23:11 (ten years ago)

yeah can someone please take me to that moment

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Thursday, 11 February 2016 23:12 (ten years ago)

lq live rip of "she's american" gets me so blissed out & lightheaded, i am not sure i can cope with a studio version hitting my ears, what genius came up with the idea to just remake "settle down" with basically no amendments

uberweiss, Saturday, 13 February 2016 00:36 (ten years ago)

Ha same. I can already tell that it will be a highlight for me. Does sound like a total rewrite of "Settle Down" but that song is probably top 5 songs of this decade for me so I'll take anything that prolongs the magic

Vinnie, Sunday, 14 February 2016 12:27 (ten years ago)

the bridge + sax interlude in she's american really lift it above settle down imo

ufo, Sunday, 14 February 2016 12:56 (ten years ago)

my heart just stopped

uberweiss, Monday, 15 February 2016 17:46 (ten years ago)

after listening to "somebody else" like this band is going to fucking kill me
