Sia's demo version of "Making the Most of the Night". Carly sings this so much better IMO.

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Friday, 8 January 2016 14:55 (ten years ago)

E•mo•tion was voted most underrated album on pfork's readers' poll, which I imagine was no doubt reinforced by the Grammy snubs, since it doesn't seem otherwise unloved

Sushi and the Banchan (Spectrist), Friday, 8 January 2016 16:45 (ten years ago)

think Pitchfork readers probably consider it underrated relative to the middling review it got there rather than caring about it being snubbed by the Grammys

ufo, Friday, 8 January 2016 16:58 (ten years ago)

was pleasantly surprised to hear that re: the pitchfork readers! in general albums by women have automatically scooped up the 'most overrated' accolade even if they weren't really that praised lol

dyl, Friday, 8 January 2016 17:27 (ten years ago)

I thought "Most Overrated" tends to go to whatever album Pitchfork gave the highest score to that year.

Of course, I participated in the poll and gave Underrated to Susanne Sundfor, in that she wasn't even reviewed on the site, and Overrated to Tobias Jesso Jr.

MarkoP, Friday, 8 January 2016 17:36 (ten years ago)

what kind of world do we even live in

boxedjoy, Wednesday, 3 February 2016 10:15 (ten years ago)

She must have done something to someone. She's been frozen out like a godddamn whistleblower.

how's life, Wednesday, 3 February 2016 10:36 (ten years ago)

all men too

maura, Wednesday, 3 February 2016 15:10 (ten years ago)

There's a female singer in Walk off the Earth.

MarkoP, Wednesday, 3 February 2016 15:23 (ten years ago)

ok Carly, it's clear the people of Canada don't want you, just move to NYC permanently please

Sharkie, Wednesday, 3 February 2016 16:45 (ten years ago)

The Junos are notoriously dreadful (see Nickelback's "Album of the Year" award for Dark Horse, and I hope aren't taken to speak for the people of Canada.

pitchforkian at best (cryptosicko), Wednesday, 3 February 2016 18:12 (ten years ago)

can't believe all the people of Canada voted Carly Rae Jepsen worst album of the year

bern b bag (crüt), Wednesday, 3 February 2016 18:18 (ten years ago)

Walk Off the Earth makes me wish J.D. Considine's Short Takes was still around so he could write something like, "Good idea."

something totally new, it’s the AOR of the twenty first century (tipsy mothra), Wednesday, 3 February 2016 18:18 (ten years ago)

The issue with the Juno moms is that this album doesn't meet the CRTC definition of being "Canadian". She is of course but the principle writers, producers and recording locations are not Canadian.

everything, Wednesday, 3 February 2016 18:32 (ten years ago)

Noms, not moms sorry.

everything, Wednesday, 3 February 2016 18:33 (ten years ago)

Ah, that makes sense.

how's life, Wednesday, 3 February 2016 18:34 (ten years ago)

That's so strange, because the Polaris Prize deems it Canadian.

A. Begrand, Wednesday, 3 February 2016 18:40 (ten years ago)

I could be wrong, but I believe that for Polaris just the artist has to be Canadian. Tbh I am just guessing why it was omitted.

everything, Wednesday, 3 February 2016 18:57 (ten years ago)

ohh see i confused walk off the earth with walk the moon, sorry. let's all walk away from bad band names

maura, Wednesday, 3 February 2016 19:22 (ten years ago)

these aboots were made for walking

Sharkie, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 13:47 (ten years ago)
