id belatedly rank the mixtapes as monster (the beats on this are mighty, fuck up some commas is obv immense, tho i could do without the indian storeowner skit, for a second i thought i was back in 1995), 56 nights (it has no compadre, trap niggas, and march madness, but not 100% sold on the rest), then beast mode (mainly as it sounds pretty thin sonically).

i don't know why anyone even bothers to announce mixtapes. is it really better to hype people an hour ahead of time (and risk not dropping it on schedule and pissing everyone off) vs. just surprising them?

this is sounding really good to me though I'm no Future scholar. "Inside the Mattress," "No Charge" and "Future Purple Reign" are all great, "Run Up" would be if the DJ drops weren't so obtrusive

It is pretty good and he hasn't lost it at all but it's not on par with the Monster-Beast Mode-56 Nights-DS2 run. I wish he'd switch up his production a bit more these days and get some bouncier and upbeat, more colorful stuff, or at the very least do some more of the flooding with love for the streets type tracks: my savages, just like bruddas, trap n**gas, etc.

DS2 has some problems, it's solid but I can think of Metro Boomin productions I like better than his stuff on there, including "Jumpman" which is a great beat w crap rapping. So I'm fine with him releasing more stuff even if it's similar template, not like it's completely identical

what is it with Future album/mixtapes being added then subtracted then added again with incomplete track list or changed Artist headings on Spotify . it's so random

I relistened to all the mixtapes after Purple Reign dropped and have thoughts

Monster: The highlights on here are great, second half of "Throw Away" (I know you could say it's not complete without the first half but it's a bit of a dirge IMO,) "Hardly," "Codeine Crazy." "After That" is a banger and reminds me of when I thought Wayne was rebounding until he put out three worthless projects last year. The first two songs are terrible though, "Radical" in particular. Actually this is the one I didn't finish all the way through originally so it was cool going back and finding a handful of dope songs.

Beast Mode: I like this almost all the way through but mainly on a solid, not-great level. "No Basic" is a cut above the rest though I think.

56 Nights: I get why this is seen as the best one and the siren drops are just a repeating producer tag, the beats are pretty varied within its template. But idk, to me it's kinda dreary besides "March Madness." In a certain mood I could maybe see feeling this more.

It's not so much that I think he's better/worse at one or another sound, but I remember playing Pluto a bunch when it dropped and while it's got it's flaws I miss some of the brighter sound it had overall. It's not necessary, plenty of the best songs from last year go for a bleak feel and succeed, but when they don't it's a little drab/monotonous.
