A documentary about a viaduct across the valley and the optimism that was delivered to the local people is heart warming, this one was on the platform all along

i let that one get too expensive to truly enjoy as no record should cost more than £10 but someone else can enjoy its stay in their house, i can reminisce over a pie about the times hearing it not knowing its name

I've been playing Bobby Konders "Massai Women" a lot recently; it's on the B-side of "The Poem". It feels newly contemporary, and fits in well with a lot of the recent house music that I've been enjoying.

I'm not sure if I even like this, but I've always kind wondered: did Westbam invent big beat back in 1990?

Posted this one before may but theres a telegram from big dog towers at 17 mins in this Gemini mix. Sounds like the kind of big dog the late great might own?

with a burst of energy followed by nostalgia and regret at not being exactly sure if the track at 7 mins is thomas bangalter, from trax on da rox or whatever?
I dont know what it is! yet...
― saer, Wednesday, 10 February 2016 11:01 (ten years ago)
u right about the bangalter, LG. it's "outrun"
― andrew m., Wednesday, 10 February 2016 16:06 (ten years ago)
still sounds brilliant. most of the stuff on that mix does, actually.
― japanese mage (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 10 February 2016 16:11 (ten years ago)
found this one via that wormhole earlier - quite different, a lot more melody, but really good also:

I heard a record the other week which i've not been able to shake, and I havent worked out what it is yet. it samples the vocals from Erykah Badu's On and On, a bit of searching uncovered a few tracks using this but none of them are it (its not the Norma Jean Bell one)
It sounds like its from sometime between 98 and 01, probably British. It will probably turn up again somewhere..
― saer, Sunday, 28 February 2016 17:50 (ten years ago)
its Boo Williams

i mean, the interview is Boo Williams, not the record with the erykah badu sample...thats definitely not Boo!
Mark Farina clip from 2001, last track sounds ah'reet, tho the clip sounds like it was found in the local bathshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8_xJJHPASM

@ saer - do you mean the 3/4 seconds after jon cutler's "it's yours"?
― japanese mage (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 2 March 2016 21:56 (ten years ago)
i thought it served the function of a noisy, acid-y rave track perfectly. sorry if it's not a techno bobbins.

No! I meant the Jon Cutler record, I didn't know it!
― saer, Thursday, 3 March 2016 10:07 (ten years ago)
Can't believe you didn't know that, you obviously never went to a cocktail bar, hairdressers, clothes shop, hotel lobby etc for the 4/5 years after its release!
― japanese mage (LocalGarda), Thursday, 3 March 2016 11:15 (ten years ago)
I wouldnt know anything about any of those places, but I dont think it was ever played over the tannoy at Seel Park, though the tannoy was broken for a couple of years. If only the same could be said of the speakers in shops today. Rymans is a no go area, horrific in there, they used to call him on his cellphone, every day i walk past. I walk a different way now, and ordered the pencil I wanted online
― saer, Thursday, 3 March 2016 11:25 (ten years ago)
this is a really really good album but one of the worst covers i have ever seen, let's all point and laugh

this isnt just the shit, its also the compost too, the compost that conditions and fertilizes the soil, from which vibes can grow and be felt by anyone who takes a bit of time out and lets the reverie flow through them. its easy to forget stuff like this, but easy to remember it again too
