It's quite bizarre seeing them with Morning Musume and Sexy Zone, E-Girls and Perfume. Credit goes to the producers I guess - as far as I know tricot is still only signed to their self-made indie label.

I really loved THE, but AND has a dense surface of hyperkinetic chops that I just bounce off. Maybe they have ascended to the stratosphere and my ageing brain is left behind, although I listen to a lot of Autechre and feel it's quite straightforward.

Maybe it's because I heard it first but I prefer A N D over T H E and the rest of the stuff I've heard, even though everyone tells me they're better. So many hooks.

Hope it's better than singles/EPs they put out after AND, I thought they were a but formulaic. I'm probably still apparently the only person to prefer AND to THE though so I might just have wrong opinions on this band

Looking forward to it, hoping for a European tour.

I haven't really been blown away by any of the new stuff I've heard off this; I will still probably get it and enjoy it well enough though. And to be genre pedant for a minute I really don't think the math-rock tag has ever really applied, especially not now they're essentially a decent pop-rock band with the occasional time signature change.

Yeah, Lite are good. I also recommend Nuito and Marmalade Butcher for anyone into that stuff

Lot's of J Math (sorry) seems much less dissonant and overall prettier than it's western counterpart, I really like the bands that lean on the Piano as a central instrument like Atlantis Airport or Haisuinonasa

First half is great, but it got a bit too Math in the second half and lost me. (Rock isn’t generally my thing though. I was coming at this as a J Pop fan and knew nothing about the band hitherto.)

Can't wait to dig into this. Post THE I felt they struggled to reach those old heights but the singles for this album have been super promising and made me a born again fan.

I love this record.

I really liked their Fender-y light sound on the early stuff - the newer material is thicker and I can't lose myself in the interplay as much. I reckon it will improve once I've listened more, but unlike their previous albums this one's not on Bandcamp so I can't buy it very easily.

Yeah, it's ironic that signing to a bigger label has likely improved their status in Japan, but handicapped them w/r/t growing their US audience. (The new record is on US Spotify, though.)
