sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Thursday, 5 May 2016 19:56 (ten years ago)

really hope they're entirely separate entities

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 May 2016 20:01 (ten years ago)

ha

Number None, Thursday, 5 May 2016 20:13 (ten years ago)

i mean...they lived in the same house at one point, i really was worried circa 2014 that Chance's next album would be a Blake collab thing

some dude, Thursday, 5 May 2016 20:39 (ten years ago)

oh this should be cool

sometimes i have to admit i get really annoyed by his voice, when it's right i love chance but when i don't want to hear him i REALLY don't want to hear him

marcos, Thursday, 5 May 2016 20:41 (ten years ago)

i hated that sunday candy video sooooooo much but i can't really get w/ musicals in general though

marcos, Thursday, 5 May 2016 20:43 (ten years ago)

aw man that's a great video

Spottie, Thursday, 5 May 2016 20:52 (ten years ago)

yea it's more my own thing w/ musicals, they are just too much for me, i feel embarassed for everyone involved including me as an audience member but i know people love them so i can easily see why people would like it

marcos, Thursday, 5 May 2016 20:54 (ten years ago)

new song is pretty all right imo http://pitchfork.com/news/65439-chance-the-rapper-lil-wayne-and-2-chainz-release-new-song-no-problem-listen/?mbid=social_twitter

if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Thursday, 12 May 2016 18:05 (ten years ago)

the wayne & 2 chainz verses feel more like a flex than logical additions to the song, which otherwise sounds pretty amazing

J0rdan S., Thursday, 12 May 2016 18:09 (ten years ago)

2 chainz verses always logical additions imo

dc, Thursday, 12 May 2016 18:11 (ten years ago)

idk who produced it but it kinda sounds like a kanye beat that exploded

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Thursday, 12 May 2016 18:14 (ten years ago)

xp otm

if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Thursday, 12 May 2016 18:14 (ten years ago)

i already regret my earlier post. wayne sounds great... he's kinda doing a "let the beat build" thing

J0rdan S., Friday, 13 May 2016 03:20 (ten years ago)

"half a milli in the safe another in the pillowcase / codeine got me moving slower than a caterpillar race" is some real good vintage wayne

J0rdan S., Friday, 13 May 2016 03:23 (ten years ago)

Love this guy but wtf is w his features

albvivertine, Friday, 13 May 2016 03:44 (ten years ago)

Tape is fire so far

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Friday, 13 May 2016 03:47 (ten years ago)

i thought the song with thug & lil yachty was kind of aggressively offputting but yeah

J0rdan S., Friday, 13 May 2016 03:51 (ten years ago)

i didnt mind it, even dug yachty's verse altho he's clearly outclassed

its very optimistic music

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Friday, 13 May 2016 04:32 (ten years ago)

up on datpiff now for all those anti apple music people (like me)

thom yorke state of mind (voodoo chili), Friday, 13 May 2016 04:43 (ten years ago)

Hell yeah this is so good.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Friday, 13 May 2016 08:09 (ten years ago)

i could do without blessings and how great

ANU (sisilafami), Friday, 13 May 2016 09:09 (ten years ago)

I could not.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Friday, 13 May 2016 09:40 (ten years ago)

What I could do without is the muddy mixing, especially on the opening tracks.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Friday, 13 May 2016 09:56 (ten years ago)

omg "smoke break"

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Friday, 13 May 2016 10:58 (ten years ago)

this is good imo

(•̪●) (carne asada), Friday, 13 May 2016 13:27 (ten years ago)

What I could do without is the muddy mixing, especially on the opening tracks.

i had just cranked it up when vocoder Kanye (?) comes in on the first track, and twice the volume of the rest of the mix.

for all the noise he's made about how free releases should be eligible for Grammys, you'd think he'd gotten have a better mixing & mastering pass on this.

sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Friday, 13 May 2016 13:39 (ten years ago)

also i never thought i'd hear Bieber over a Mount Kimbie sample.

sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Friday, 13 May 2016 13:40 (ten years ago)

there is so much jesus on this album that it made me feel physically nauseous by the end

like i'd never really connected w/chance on an emotional level and the amount of god-n-family stuff is p much why, and it's so overbearing here

lots of nice beats though but whatever i can't listen to this again

cher guevara (lex pretend), Friday, 13 May 2016 15:18 (ten years ago)

Godless Europeans smh

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Friday, 13 May 2016 15:23 (ten years ago)

my firm view that christianity is a poison is informed 100% by too much, not too little, exposure to it

cher guevara (lex pretend), Friday, 13 May 2016 15:25 (ten years ago)

my firm view is that popular music as we know it literally does not exist without black church music

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Friday, 13 May 2016 15:52 (ten years ago)

i'm sure you can trace the history of music further back than that, not that it's a relevant point to make

cher guevara (lex pretend), Friday, 13 May 2016 15:58 (ten years ago)

lol i'm as atheist as could but getting down on this for the gospel speak is laughable imo

(•̪●) (carne asada), Friday, 13 May 2016 16:22 (ten years ago)

could be*

(•̪●) (carne asada), Friday, 13 May 2016 16:23 (ten years ago)

why is it laughable to have a negative reaction to overbearing christianity?

cher guevara (lex pretend), Friday, 13 May 2016 16:43 (ten years ago)

I just don't see that it's overbearing. It's part of the esthetic sure.

(•̪●) (carne asada), Friday, 13 May 2016 16:47 (ten years ago)

Stare at the cue cards, take out the juke parts
Take out the God references, just leave the cool parts

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Friday, 13 May 2016 16:53 (ten years ago)

i can assure you my antipathy to christianity is not because it's "uncool"

cher guevara (lex pretend), Friday, 13 May 2016 16:55 (ten years ago)

but you understand that the role of christianity is very different on chicago's south side & in its music than it may be for yourself

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Friday, 13 May 2016 16:58 (ten years ago)

i didn't frame my reaction as anything other than a personal response

cher guevara (lex pretend), Friday, 13 May 2016 16:59 (ten years ago)

i think you need jesus brah

(•̪●) (carne asada), Friday, 13 May 2016 17:10 (ten years ago)

i have a real allergy to christianity which is why i have trouble with later prefab sprout records but it didn't really bother me on this record at all?

idk its so joyous and fun who cares

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Friday, 13 May 2016 17:17 (ten years ago)

if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Friday, 13 May 2016 17:19 (ten years ago)

i can understand being put off by the relentless positivity, though. brainwasher (who hasn't posted on here in some time ergo i will speak on his behalf lol) told me he's more into vince staples or it resonates more w/ him, and I can understand that pov even if i like chance more; its optimism can be blinding

ideologically im probably also more aligned w/ vince's worldview but musically i much prefer chance
