iTunes couldn't recognise the album when I tried to rip the CD this morning, so I had to type in all the info and manually add the cover art. I'm sure it's just an issue with my machine, but it feels symbolic somehow.

the thing about boy problems is the way that somewhere around the midway point it has, before you know it, become a kind of psychedelic fugue that fractals in and out of itself

There are so many good things about Boy Problems:

- The 'nah-nah-nah-nah-nah's
- The baseline! The fucking baseline!
- The fact it should have been bigger than 'Get Lucky'
- The 'DUN! DUN! DUN!' just before the chorus
- The satisfying syncopation(?) of the backing vocals after she sings 'worse problems...' (something about 'my boyfriend')

"When I Needed You" is I think in my top 3 now. It sounds like Chvrches!

I want to put half this album on my ILX ballot :(

'when i needed you' was a massive singalong highlight of the london show, felt like everyone had loved it for years and years

E•mo•tion was voted most underrated album on pfork's readers' poll, which I imagine was no doubt reinforced by the Grammy snubs, since it doesn't seem otherwise unloved

think Pitchfork readers probably consider it underrated relative to the middling review it got there rather than caring about it being snubbed by the Grammys

was pleasantly surprised to hear that re: the pitchfork readers! in general albums by women have automatically scooped up the 'most overrated' accolade even if they weren't really that praised lol
