I see Amazon are now selling the 2 cd reissue of STITI for £13 and the deluxe box set version for £60 (both sans T Shirt)
― groovypanda, Friday, 4 December 2015 21:53 (ten years ago)
fell asleep to the second toughest reissue last night but kept waking up during the nuxx build because it's so wacky
― HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Thursday, 17 December 2015 14:41 (ten years ago)
I am tempted to buy the reissue solely because it has "Born Slippy (Original)" on it, which I already own. help
― you're breaking the NAP (DJP), Thursday, 17 December 2015 14:47 (ten years ago)
i'm not going to discourage you from buying this reissue
― HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Thursday, 17 December 2015 14:59 (ten years ago)
I was slightly underwhelmed by this one. Glad I didn't spend £70 on it
― groovypanda, Thursday, 17 December 2015 20:17 (ten years ago)

guh I just bought it like a week before that, from Amazon, for £20
oh well
nobody talk about how brilliant the £60 version is because I just couldn't quite justify it (but might buy it on mp3 as it is much cheaper)

whoa, definitely channeling some mid-70's Eno there
― frogbs, Tuesday, 19 January 2016 13:55 (ten years ago)
here's the full version btw

oh hell yeah
― HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Tuesday, 19 January 2016 22:07 (ten years ago)
i'm really excited at where this is going. this feels like their biggest departure in years
― HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Tuesday, 19 January 2016 22:09 (ten years ago)
Sounds like Hit the North.
― Keith, Tuesday, 19 January 2016 22:13 (ten years ago)
full length is doing way more for me than the single version
couldn't pinpoint this before but those background vocals remind me so much of Eno's "Golden Hours"
― frogbs, Tuesday, 19 January 2016 22:22 (ten years ago)
I am just now getting to this and it's not what I expected, but that doesn't seem to matter because I am really digging it.
― its subtle brume (DJP), Thursday, 21 January 2016 15:29 (ten years ago)
love this
― nomar, Thursday, 21 January 2016 18:49 (ten years ago)
Wow, I hated this but i'm really happy to see the positive sentiment in here.
― brotherlovesdub, Thursday, 21 January 2016 23:13 (ten years ago)
it's underworld season
― savvinesslessness (map), Saturday, 17 September 2016 18:05 (nine years ago)
I'm curious to see the setlists for the NL shows. They've been in the studio again so perhaps something new will get played.
― brotherlovesdub, Saturday, 17 September 2016 20:18 (nine years ago)
um every season is underworld season
― laraaji p. henson (Stevie D(eux)), Saturday, 17 September 2016 22:58 (nine years ago)
Used Everything, Everything for a run (again) this morning and it really is just the most amazingly energising music.
― Tim F, Saturday, 17 September 2016 23:01 (nine years ago)

― savvinesslessness (map), Sunday, 18 September 2016 03:51 (nine years ago)
wow this is a brilliant idea. I haven't listened to it much, I assume it all flows together and would probably be better to work out to than like 1992-2002?
also holy crap I cannot believe DJP started this thread, he is like #1 Underworld fan!!
― laraaji p. henson (Stevie D(eux)), Sunday, 18 September 2016 15:49 (nine years ago)
Indeed!
― Ned Raggett, Sunday, 18 September 2016 16:04 (nine years ago)
I forgot that Underworld were one of those bands that released recordings of, like, an entire tour
has anyone heard some of them? are there any clear standouts? do their live sets even differ all that much from show to show bcz when I saw them in NYC a few months ago it was more or less a dj set of album cuts w/ virtually no improvisation or "live"-ness apart from Karl Hyde singing
― laraaji p. henson (Stevie D(eux)), Sunday, 18 September 2016 16:13 (nine years ago)
Their live shows are a sham now as far as performances go. Rick just raises faders and applies some light effects. Everything is the same night to night. The Live Here Now shows are very similar from that Oblivion tour so just find the one with the best set list and get that one. I still have doubles of almost every show from that tour so if you want to buy one, let me know.
― brotherlovesdub, Sunday, 18 September 2016 16:42 (nine years ago)
I found a t0rr3nt that has them all that's almost finished ;)
― laraaji p. henson (Stevie D(eux)), Sunday, 18 September 2016 18:02 (nine years ago)
Their early tours were amazing with loads of live improvs and differing set lists. Nowadays not so much.
What was the name of the one we put together over on the dirty forums? Still got the cd somwehere but can't remember what it was called
― groovypanda, Sunday, 18 September 2016 19:56 (nine years ago)
Bootleg Babies
― brotherlovesdub, Sunday, 18 September 2016 20:32 (nine years ago)
Oh, that was in the torrent I got!! I'll listen to that first.

the 2005 live Tokyo set was incredible. felt like an Everything, Everything Pt 2 in some ways though it was much longer.
― frogbs, Monday, 19 September 2016 19:15 (nine years ago)
hmm can anyone hook me up w/tokyo 2005?
― nomar, Monday, 19 September 2016 21:07 (nine years ago)
i haven't dug around for it yet but there is a playlist on youtube http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE5C9D2056FF360ED

can't wait to try it w/ the live Tokyo set, i might combust when "Two Months Off" comes on
― laraaji p. henson (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 20 September 2016 13:25 (nine years ago)
still not a fan of Second Toughest... though
― ¶ (DJP), Tuesday, 20 September 2016 13:56 (nine years ago)
I wasn't either for a while, I'm still not as a whole, but Juanita/Kiteless/To Dream of Love, Rowla, and Pearl's Girl have all grown on me.
― laraaji p. henson (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 20 September 2016 14:54 (nine years ago)
Pearl's Girl is fantastic, yes
― ¶ (DJP), Tuesday, 20 September 2016 15:38 (nine years ago)
Ambient Underworld is much more interesting to me than the beat driven club tracks. Wish they'd give up on the club tracks and just focus on the atmospheric stuff now.
― brotherlovesdub, Tuesday, 20 September 2016 16:05 (nine years ago)
+1 to UW being incredible work out music.
I would hate to have them focus on one particular aspect of their sound - they've been so good at basically everything
― frogbs, Tuesday, 20 September 2016 19:38 (nine years ago)
I think "Motorhome" from their new album is prob in their top 15 or maybe even 10 tracks, it is so beautiful and impeccably-textured! It sounds like Eno or some shit ("High Life" must have really rubbed off on them)
― laraaji p. henson (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 20 September 2016 20:09 (nine years ago)
I have taught my toddlers how to sing the main synth theme from "If Rah" and they periodically request the song by shouting "LUNA LUNA LUNA" at me
I will accept my Greatest Dad Ever award now
― ¶ (DJP), Tuesday, 20 September 2016 20:11 (nine years ago)
I've tried with that new album like five times and I just find it so boring. Can't get into it at all.
― Don Van Gorp, midwest regional VP, marketing (誤訳侮辱), Tuesday, 20 September 2016 20:29 (nine years ago)
That's / too / bad
― brotherlovesdub, Tuesday, 20 September 2016 22:36 (nine years ago)
they periodically request the song by shouting "LUNA LUNA LUNA" at me
Presumably when they're old enough they can move on to LAGER LAGER LAGER LAGER
― I hear from this arsehole again, he's going in the river (James Morrison), Wednesday, 21 September 2016 00:06 (nine years ago)
new album still sounds awesome to me
― frogbs, Wednesday, 21 September 2016 02:28 (nine years ago)
i've only tried once but so far i'm with don van gorp. i don't hear any of the focus or tension between carefully calibrated parts in a ruthless point-a-to-point-b sweep that i feel like made them great at their best, just an unfocused pile-on of bland ideas meandering and lyrics that have gone from compelling-and-slightly-embarrassing to drunk-dad-cringey.
― savvinesslessness (map), Wednesday, 21 September 2016 03:36 (nine years ago)
The 2nd half of the album is better.
