so excited about seeing them tonight

lex pretend, Wednesday, 28 October 2015 16:48 (ten years ago)

Live show was really good when I saw them last week! They are so shameless in the best way. Ollie Alexander seems so thrilled by their audiences, it's really endearing.

boxedjoy, Wednesday, 28 October 2015 19:29 (ten years ago)

hope Ollie is as drunk as he was reported to be a couple weeks ago.

The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 28 October 2015 19:35 (ten years ago)

im really mad i missed them in nyc

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 28 October 2015 19:58 (ten years ago)

FWIW this is what I had to say about it last week.

boxedjoy, Wednesday, 28 October 2015 20:41 (ten years ago)

Olly was either wasted or really naturally hyper

Fuck was he wearing though, socks n shorts beyond hideousness

I love this band so much, actually can't imagine how much they'd have meant to me if they'd been around when I was 22

They covered Toxic! We'd been told a Britney cover would happen, I guessed Born To Make You Happy bc codependency, Grace guessed Hold It Against Me. She should cover Ties though

His voice sounds better live, possibly helps that the audience are fully into singing every line

Their music probs doesn't warrant as much slutdropping as Olly thinks it does

one month passes...

it occurred to me today that sonically this album is kind of like "what if the bieber album were good"

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Wednesday, 16 December 2015 19:13 (ten years ago)

and "if Bieber projected any sexuality"

The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 16 December 2015 19:14 (ten years ago)

"Shine" will be my #1 single on my P&J ballot

The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 16 December 2015 19:15 (ten years ago)

i love "shine" so much

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Wednesday, 16 December 2015 19:15 (ten years ago)

makes me tear up

The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 16 December 2015 19:16 (ten years ago)

that and "memo" kill me 100 percent

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Wednesday, 16 December 2015 19:18 (ten years ago)

i wanna choreograph a very sad dance to "memo"

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Wednesday, 16 December 2015 19:23 (ten years ago)

"Memo" probably my favourite song of the year, and certainly the one that has upset me the most.

Tim F, Wednesday, 16 December 2015 20:09 (ten years ago)

Also really into the slighter but very pretty bonus track "1977", which they should have called "1975".

Tim F, Wednesday, 16 December 2015 20:10 (ten years ago)

and for Brad's sake maybe called it "The 1975."

The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 16 December 2015 20:24 (ten years ago)

Yah that's what I mean

Tim F, Wednesday, 16 December 2015 21:18 (ten years ago)

i don't think a british pop song has emotionally crippled me as much as "memo" has since daniel bedingfield's "if you're not the one" (lol). which like ofc.

cher guevara (lex pretend), Friday, 4 March 2016 19:40 (ten years ago)

Olly's post on the band's facebook re: this video was incredible

boxedjoy, Friday, 4 March 2016 19:57 (ten years ago)

I bought some South American edition of the album that has something like 43 songs.

The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 4 March 2016 20:44 (ten years ago)

and, no, not for one moment has Olly been cute. Emre Turkmen is my boy.

I cannot dig into this thread rn, but what's the consensus...ILM loves this band, yah? Or...?

alpine static, Tuesday, 22 March 2016 00:44 (ten years ago)

We like the album.

The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 22 March 2016 00:47 (ten years ago)

Well, 'the band' is pretty much the same as 'the album' (so far). Right?

daavid, Tuesday, 22 March 2016 02:16 (ten years ago)

i'm still listening to this album for days on end, def one of my top records of the decade

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 22 March 2016 02:52 (ten years ago)

recently fell in love with "1977."

three months pass...

I love this album.

The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 31 July 2016 17:42 (nine years ago)

Yeah, this is a great album. I'd love something new from them soon. Isn't it time for the deluxe edition with a bunch of new songs or something?

Kitchen Person, Sunday, 31 July 2016 17:52 (nine years ago)

such a good record

J0rdan S., Sunday, 31 July 2016 17:54 (nine years ago)

I forget about every couple months, then something like "Real" comes on and I'm like daaaamn

The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 31 July 2016 17:56 (nine years ago)

wonder if olly might do some solo guest vocal stuff in between albums

J0rdan S., Sunday, 31 July 2016 17:58 (nine years ago)

I'm not sure it would interest me. Away from the group ethos I think his vocals would frighten me.

The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 31 July 2016 18:04 (nine years ago)

yeah depends on if he wrote the lyrics also

J0rdan S., Sunday, 31 July 2016 18:05 (nine years ago)

my nightmare is if he shows up in an Elton John video or something

The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 31 July 2016 18:07 (nine years ago)

sounds like his nightmare too

J0rdan S., Sunday, 31 July 2016 18:09 (nine years ago)

he could probably rock a Katy B duet idk

The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 31 July 2016 18:11 (nine years ago)

he's guested on some stuff already - there's his turn on 'Sunlight' and there's a Clean Bandit song I hear in work sometimes that's got him on it too, both of them are not awful

boxedjoy, Sunday, 31 July 2016 18:58 (nine years ago)

― Kitchen Person,

There was a "Super Deluxe Boxset" released last year but only had two bonus tracks on it.

Think they've said they're booked into the studio later this year to start work on a follow up.

groovypanda, Sunday, 31 July 2016 21:13 (nine years ago)

one month passes...

uh which of you assholes didn't tell me about this band

k3vin k., Tuesday, 27 September 2016 04:32 (nine years ago)

"real" is m'/ l the best song ever

k3vin k., Tuesday, 27 September 2016 04:33 (nine years ago)

k3vin k., Tuesday, 27 September 2016 04:33 (nine years ago)

whaaaaaaat "shine"

k3vin k., Tuesday, 27 September 2016 04:36 (nine years ago)

wow i'm 3 songs into this band's catalog and they're the best band ever

k3vin k., Tuesday, 27 September 2016 04:36 (nine years ago)

just by the way....i happened to find this thread because for some reason i was listening to old school britney spears and i was searching ilx for "born to make you happy" and i found this thread somehow why because it was meant to be and may i just say listening to this band in that context is possibly the best way to discover this band
