barter 6 is really just so good, could be my favorite rap release of the year, just grows and grows on me. cool to read d40's thoughts upthread, very much otm. way better than the other mixtapes that put him on the map

like i have barely listened to slime season too because i just want to hear barter 6

slime season feels kinda grab baggy, tha tour is king imo, 1017 thug is classic too, lot if his best songs r loosies or on otherwise mediocre tapes tho

yea that's what i like about barter 6, i can play it through, very consistent spacious vibe, making my own thugger playlist would take too much time

Yeah, Barter 6 is easily my favourite album this year. So much going on in there.

Some of these ad-libs on these tracks are completely out of this world.

i share that insanity also

was assuming the comparative antipathy to ss1 is cos maybe leak heads were already overfamiliar idk

its coherence or lack thereof is only relative to b6 (which is great, don't get me wrong), i do tend to skip the first 4 tracks now but from 'best friend' to the end it's a single powerful tide that holds variety, same as any good rap alb there's ever been. and the highs are so high

somewhat feel b6's atmospheric unity almost becomes a thing in itself above its component songs, the kind of soporific fugue lucid dream that makes a man want to log in to medium dot com and bust a nut or two

b6 > ss1 >= ss2

concur that SS1 >>>> B6

B6 has "Numbers" and "Constantly Hating," so it wins.

i am with d40 here, completely bonkers to suggest ss1 > b6 imo, no way

the tagging on SS2 is out of control what is real

B6 is the best.

ss1 has some very high peaks though, tbh i'd rather listen to ss1 than 1017 thug or some of the older tapes, he's come a really long way imo, some of the older stuff grates tbh

yeah SS1 has great songs, "That's All" might be my favorite out of all this year's releases.

"calling your name", "be me see me", "overdosin", "wood would", "udiggwhatimsayin" which might be my fav thugger track ever aside from "pacifier"...not especially bothered about barter 6

about a third of the way into SS2 and it's not grabbing me like SS1 yet either

pacifiier was never going to be huge

first four tracks on SS1 are skippable

"Best Friend" is a classic, prob my fav thug single this year at least in terms of records that really took off

"Power" sounds like three or four different B6 tracks

"Calling Your Name" almost works but is really hard to listen to...you didn't even mention "Draw Down" lex

"That's All" bugs me bc it sounds almost like a good pop record but not quite

i mean, let's be real, he's one of the best rappers out, obv his current stuff is miles ahead of his earlier work...

oh yeah i like "draw down" a lot

SS1 is the first time i've really enjoyed his voice for an extended period of time

SS2 def improves in the back half, from "oh lord" on, wasn't feeling anything before that tho

feel like a THUGGER vs FUTURE past 12 months poll might be necessary
