those ilm poll results are like... good songs, but all super predictable/boring as a list, all the way down to the ones barely scraping the bottom of the top 100. have the normalizing forces of 'the canon' become so powerful even that far back that ppl were not aware of anything else from the time to vote for? i feel like ilm poll results tend to have a few more 'surprises' or w/e

i am sure the p4k list is just as bad if not worse but i don't really care enough to find out

im not a motorhead fan but when i was a kid and first heard ace of spades on the radio it was hands down the most exciting thing i had ever heard.

P4k list definitely preferable to that ILX list, though maybe ILX 101-200 was more interesting.

but the rollout is only ever the top 100 if youre lucky on an ILX poll. Which is the least interesting part of polls imo

the rap entries on the ILX list are embarassing. not that they're bad per se - a lot of them are fun - but they are not generally representative of the amazing shit coming out of hop hop in the 80s. NWA is represented by Express Yourself, which is above Rakim I mean come on

I've just been informed that Pitchfork have done a list of the best songs of the '80s. I love the music of that decade and will defend a lot of it like crazy when I come across folks (and I still do, incredibly) who (wrongly) think that the '80s is the decade that taste forgot. However, I haven't read this list and I probably won't because it's Pitchfork and I don't give a fuck.
