I'm hoping that the fact Charli XCX's Sucker still got a vinyl release (Four months after the CD!) means that this will still happen. She seems pretty excited to get it out there on vinyl.

remember when pavement came out and a cult of critic types acted like pavement were a big deal and then when crooked rain came out people were like "lol it debuted at #121, obv pavement is not a big deal, you fools"

lest anyone think i'm suggesting crj = pavement, what i'm suggesting is that people who are smacking their lips over the failure of a critical fave to storm the chart are more-popist-than-popist weirdos.

and you should be proud to know that, i do too, hence my referring to the top 100 and not the hot 100

for context, the #21 album last week sold 11k in pure album sales

whether pavement ever broke the top 100 or not was not the reason they weren't worth hearing

i'm all for spiting disgusting pernicious pure pop creeps 24/7 but i think it's fair to also want to see this lp get a merited fair shake on its own terms at the same time

i liked katherine's tumblr point about the just pure sonic thrills of it. seems obv but it's also the simple thing no one ever gets round to saying

my fave for this is prob 'la hallucinations', lyrically ur braced for typischer rechtshaidung but then u get served this absurdist fizzing clanking whirring fluoro soundscape that makes it seem as if she and her erstwhile bff had originally travelled to the west coast to pilot giant robots and battle sea monsters pacific rim style

the beats have always been the biggest selling point imo

oh yeah -- it's what grabbed me about "I Really" and the album in June ("Warm Blood," "Making the Most of the Night" especially).

well it IS more than a crit phenom in that the album will likely debut in the top 20, despite album sales (streams not included) that look piddly if you're not aware how few albums you have to sell to make the top 20. but are there any "ppl" who banked their acclaim for this album on its likely commercial weight? the lolz seem dependent on that strawman AND not realizing how lol sales are in general these days.

i don't know if you missed my sarcasm, or just wanted a chance to say "pavement sucks" regardless of it, but i was trying to call out how absurd it would be to try to dismiss people's enthusiasm for music based on it failing to inspire commercial beatlemania.

streams only effect album chart position if there's a giant single (i.e. the only reason Mark Ronson's album charted well for many weeks)

Tim smacking one lips is a metaphor for being GLAD about something, no reason to defend wishing the album was bigger

lol at this album being on track to do sky ferreira numbers when all is said and done. next stop: top 10 placement on the pitchfork readers' poll's "most overrated album of 2015" list! (i am jk here, all you have to do to make that list is be a woman and have your album reviewed semi-favorably on the site.)

i like all the album's songs! but i feel like the sequencing might be off? idk, as a front-to-back listen it's not quite as life-changingly excellent as i was hoping it would be based on the songs that i'd heard pre-release. but maybe my impressions will change as i spend more time with it.

also why does she have a hint of a british accent on 2/3 of the singles
