and a part of me wants to find pleasure in corban saying this album is only one decimal point better than a k-pop record (2ne1's crush), but i have to disagree

i think taylor's place in the 2014 album poll, coupled with recent reviews for derulo and now carly rae, mean they've made a conscious decision to cover more pop

it does seem a little weird that the review's appraisal hinges upon this record not being as good or personable as, say, taylor swift (and even incorporating "blank space" to drive the point home in the last two lines) when p4k has otherwise avoided acknowledging swift's albums at all

remember when pavement came out and a cult of critic types acted like pavement were a big deal and then when crooked rain came out people were like "lol it debuted at #121, obv pavement is not a big deal, you fools"

lest anyone think i'm suggesting crj = pavement, what i'm suggesting is that people who are smacking their lips over the failure of a critical fave to storm the chart are more-popist-than-popist weirdos.
