I am just now listening to the LP version of "The Mystery Zone" and I think I actually prefer the truncated CD version. That abrupt mid-word cutoff is just hilarious.
― Tom Violence, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:18 (ten years ago)
i didn't know there was a long version! the cutoff is vital.
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:23 (ten years ago)
It's a friend of mine - taken in Toledo, Spain.
― AKA Thermo Thinwall (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:29 (ten years ago)

― Bee OK, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:33 (ten years ago)

And when you believe they call it rock and roll
― Bee OK, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:39 (ten years ago)
Ya, I loved it too! Used 3 or 4 shots from that trip!

Wow, did not expect to see it this high.
― austinato (Austin), Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:44 (ten years ago)
well, if there is a surprise in the top 2, it will be a p enormous one
― Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:45 (ten years ago)
Gimme Fiction was the first Spoon album I listened to seriously. I bought it on its release date to review it for a tiny local paper in the back woods of New Hampshire. I had heard the first three and I think I had played Kill the Moonlight once, so Gimme Fiction was really out of left field compared to what I expected. I fell in love before the end of the first chorus.
― Tom Violence, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:46 (ten years ago)
wow that placed high
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:46 (ten years ago)
I guess I shouldn't be as surprised as I am, because I did vote for it.
― austinato (Austin), Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:48 (ten years ago)
sorry it had 673 Points.
― Bee OK, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:49 (ten years ago)
I was the "Black Like Me" #1 iirc, immense, perfect song
― the naive cockney chorus (Simon H.), Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:49 (ten years ago)
"And when you believe they call it rock and roll"
might be Spoon's most rocking tune?
― Bee OK, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:59 (ten years ago)
I really like the way they call out other songs on the album in the first track on the album. None of their other records are thematically linked like that.
― Tom Violence, Sunday, 2 August 2015 01:01 (ten years ago)
(I mean really it might just be a shortcut to appear thematically linked but)
my number 3, i can say it placed perfectly!
― Bee OK, Sunday, 2 August 2015 01:12 (ten years ago)
Come now.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 2 August 2015 01:22 (ten years ago)
was talking about the tension only.
― Bee OK, Sunday, 2 August 2015 01:31 (ten years ago)
normally i would post both of these songs at the same time, but i'm not going to do that in this case.
― Bee OK, Sunday, 2 August 2015 01:33 (ten years ago)

Can't imagine what's #1, like I'm racking my brain and not finding anything that could be that popular.

Surely you jest!
― austinato (Austin), Sunday, 2 August 2015 01:40 (ten years ago)

Yay, I voted for the winner.
Such a layered and beautiful song. Mastery.
Thank you for another wonderful poll and rollout, Bee. And Thermo, your artwork was exceptional. Great job, you two.

awesome poll! everything hits wasn't my #1 but it feels just. I still remember the first time I heard it, driving north on 405 past LAX. Gobsmacked me it did.
Would love to say I ran out and bought the CD but I think how it went down was I got home and downloaded from eMusic...
― resulting post (rogermexico.), Sunday, 2 August 2015 02:05 (ten years ago)
don't blame me man I had "agony" top 5 \m/
― resulting post (rogermexico.), Sunday, 2 August 2015 02:06 (ten years ago)
tbh the way we get by prob should be #1 but count on ILXor Spoon fans to refuse to be that ~obvious~
(totally guilty of this btw. think i had it second on my ballot because ~come on~...)
― resulting post (rogermexico.), Sunday, 2 August 2015 02:10 (ten years ago)
It was my #5 and I placed it there figuring it was a lock for the top spot.
― austinato (Austin), Sunday, 2 August 2015 02:16 (ten years ago)
Everything Hits at Once is my #1 and DESERVES to be the poll's number one.
Good work guys.
― thom yorke state of mind (voodoo chili), Sunday, 2 August 2015 02:31 (ten years ago)
"The Way We Get By" was my #18, I like it OK but I couldn't imagine it in my personal top 10. It does seem like their breakthrough in a way, though.
