this song did make my list but was floored that it was able to make it all the way up to number 6 on the overall poll.

I can't believe four songs beat this one. This is the type of Spoon that I expected to keep Black Like Me out of the rollout.
― Tom Violence, Saturday, 1 August 2015 23:36 (ten years ago)
the last two ga tracks were the only ones i voted for from that album so uh i guess i'm in line with the crowd on this.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 1 August 2015 23:37 (ten years ago)
damn i see i have been messing up the year 2007 on these last few Ga Ga Ga posts.
― Bee OK, Saturday, 1 August 2015 23:39 (ten years ago)
yes, it only beat "Black Like Me" by 3 points but it had 2 number one votes to put it over the top despite having one less vote.
― Bee OK, Saturday, 1 August 2015 23:44 (ten years ago)
i'm starting to see why Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga won the album poll, this is the sixth song, so far, to make the Top 20 and seventh in the Top 25. WOW.

― Bee OK, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:15 (ten years ago)
I remember hearing "I Turn My Camera On" on the radio and being shocked that Spoon was getting radio play. I actually remember where I was (Bickford's parking lot, Manchester, NH).
― Tom Violence, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:15 (ten years ago)
I am just now listening to the LP version of "The Mystery Zone" and I think I actually prefer the truncated CD version. That abrupt mid-word cutoff is just hilarious.
― Tom Violence, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:18 (ten years ago)
i didn't know there was a long version! the cutoff is vital.
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:23 (ten years ago)
It's a friend of mine - taken in Toledo, Spain.
― AKA Thermo Thinwall (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:29 (ten years ago)
one of their best songs, was my number 6.
― Bee OK, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:33 (ten years ago)
i have been there, Spain is so amazing. fell so much in love with Spain that i wanted to relocate there for a little while, never did happen. i so want to go back.
― Bee OK, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:35 (ten years ago)

― Bee OK, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:39 (ten years ago)
Ya, I loved it too! Used 3 or 4 shots from that trip!

Wow, did not expect to see it this high.
― austinato (Austin), Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:44 (ten years ago)
well, if there is a surprise in the top 2, it will be a p enormous one
― Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:45 (ten years ago)
Gimme Fiction was the first Spoon album I listened to seriously. I bought it on its release date to review it for a tiny local paper in the back woods of New Hampshire. I had heard the first three and I think I had played Kill the Moonlight once, so Gimme Fiction was really out of left field compared to what I expected. I fell in love before the end of the first chorus.
― Tom Violence, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:46 (ten years ago)
wow that placed high
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:46 (ten years ago)
I guess I shouldn't be as surprised as I am, because I did vote for it.
― austinato (Austin), Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:48 (ten years ago)
sorry it had 673 Points.
― Bee OK, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:49 (ten years ago)
I was the "Black Like Me" #1 iirc, immense, perfect song
― the naive cockney chorus (Simon H.), Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:49 (ten years ago)
"And when you believe they call it rock and roll"
might be Spoon's most rocking tune?
― Bee OK, Sunday, 2 August 2015 00:59 (ten years ago)
I really like the way they call out other songs on the album in the first track on the album. None of their other records are thematically linked like that.
― Tom Violence, Sunday, 2 August 2015 01:01 (ten years ago)
(I mean really it might just be a shortcut to appear thematically linked but)
my number 3, i can say it placed perfectly!
― Bee OK, Sunday, 2 August 2015 01:12 (ten years ago)

― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 2 August 2015 01:22 (ten years ago)
