that Eleanor cover is great, did not know that she went out with Britt.
― Bee OK, Friday, 31 July 2015 18:15 (ten years ago)
or use to go out with...
― Bee OK, Friday, 31 July 2015 18:19 (ten years ago)
How did that have 3 # 1 votes but still Finnish so low?!
― AKA Thermo Thinwall (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Friday, 31 July 2015 18:22 (ten years ago)
Stay Don't Go and Trouble both too low, IMO. Both are top-10 for me.
― hardcore dilettante, Friday, 31 July 2015 18:22 (ten years ago)
no right to bitch because I didn't vote, but that's not gonna stop me.
― hardcore dilettante, Friday, 31 July 2015 18:23 (ten years ago)
and it shouldn't. i voted for both and it is insane that it did get three number ones but still only managed 29.
― Bee OK, Friday, 31 July 2015 18:25 (ten years ago)
I love the unusual (for Spoon) backing vox immoderately.

can anyone do a Spotify of this? that is one thing i did forget.
― Bee OK, Friday, 31 July 2015 18:34 (ten years ago)
trouble comes running was my #1. it's flawless to me.
― call all destroyer, Friday, 31 July 2015 18:36 (ten years ago)
Me and the Bean, top ten for me. I love how they would cover little-known songs by Austin scene friends.
― thom yorke state of mind (voodoo chili), Friday, 31 July 2015 18:39 (ten years ago)
again thanks C. Grisso/McCain for pointing out the wrong release date for A Series of Sneaks. thanks to "mod" all those mistakes have been updated.
― Bee OK, Friday, 31 July 2015 18:42 (ten years ago)
oof. lotta good songs being burned early here.
― Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 31 July 2015 18:44 (ten years ago)
Trouble Comes Running is so great. Would've voted for Me & the Bean but wanted to avoid covers.

Trouble Come Running wuz robbed. It's top ten fer sure
― kornrulez6969, Friday, 31 July 2015 18:59 (ten years ago)
at first i did not think this song would make it, as it was not in the first draft i sent to Thermo Thinwall. what happened is some people send in ballots with just "Fitted Shirt" so when i found those songs it was of course this song will be in the Top 40.
― Bee OK, Friday, 31 July 2015 18:59 (ten years ago)
I had no idea Me and the Bean was a cover! Amazing song though, was in my top ten.
― Gavin, Leeds, Friday, 31 July 2015 19:09 (ten years ago)
"The Fitted Shirt" makes more sense as concept in the skinny jeans era.
― The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 31 July 2015 19:16 (ten years ago)
Fitted Shirt maybe their goofiest lyric in a career not lacking in goofy lyrics.
― ledge, Friday, 31 July 2015 19:25 (ten years ago)
of course, that's part of the charm
― call all destroyer, Friday, 31 July 2015 19:26 (ten years ago)
one of jim eno's finest as well

GF has their best one-two punch imo

a huge song that is now off the board. this one did make my ballot as it's just so catchy.
― Bee OK, Friday, 31 July 2015 20:13 (ten years ago)
LOVE this song.
― The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 31 July 2015 20:14 (ten years ago)
as I said last week, it might be their best earworm in a decade
― The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 31 July 2015 20:15 (ten years ago)
sort of cool that this is the last new song before we did this poll. it might not be their last song that they recorded but is the last song on their newest album.

damn, "New York Kiss" had 380 Points.
sorry abut that.
― Bee OK, Friday, 31 July 2015 20:44 (ten years ago)
Also the numbering seems to have gotten off from the images around #26 just fyi
― bunny slopes, Friday, 31 July 2015 20:47 (ten years ago)
damn, thanks for that.
― Bee OK, Friday, 31 July 2015 20:49 (ten years ago)
so my 1 (Fitted Shirt) and 2 (Anything You Want) are gone. I'm so out of step. then again, dissing a Spoon song over lyrics is a bit rich.
― campreverb, Friday, 31 July 2015 20:53 (ten years ago)
yeah this is the best.
― Spottie, Friday, 31 July 2015 20:56 (ten years ago)
i was at that Hollywood Forever Cemetery concert. i got really drunk and loved that show.

"Anything You Want" ended up being my top GCT pick. Love the lyrical shoutout to the Austin Sound Exchange.

...and how it sounds like he sings "Hatful of beer" instead of "Half of..."
― Love, Wilco (C. Grisso/McCain), Friday, 31 July 2015 21:19 (ten years ago)
i made my case... to the woohohorld
this would have been top 5 had I weighted my ballot. love on the second half of the song when the bass kicks in followed by the jangly ass guitar tone.
― Spottie, Friday, 31 July 2015 21:23 (ten years ago)
yeap, now there goes my number 2. incredible song.

but the piano doesn't grate on you after like 30 seconds?
― Spottie, Friday, 31 July 2015 21:51 (ten years ago)
i've accepted this is a real love/hate song even if i lean towards the latter
― da croupier, Friday, 31 July 2015 21:55 (ten years ago)
ya - i can't deal with the piano either.
