re: #35 and 34: They Never Got You I think of as a perfect stripped down groove that could go on for ever as far as I'm concerned. Love the handclaps that top it out. Who Makes Your Money otoh I think of as repetitive hook-free tedium (although the guitar line that comes in half way through ain't bad). Objectively, yeah you could flip those views around and they would make just as much sense.

I love Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, and it was my 'in' for Spoon, but KTM is just... it's amazing. So tight, so creative, so hooky, so tuneful. So fucking cool. It might be the coolest album I own.

Gimme Fiction was my first Spoon album, bought it on a whim for £4 in a Virgin/Zavvi sale a year or so after it came out. I only really liked a few tracks and I've never really got any further with it. Then someone recommended GCT to me soon after and I loved it, caught up with the back catalogue after that. I don't think they've ever made an outright bad album.

i was lost on the albums. just couldn't decide and was changing it daily – and not by little, completely different from one inception to another. top 7 were all interchangeable.

yea thats maybe true. i don't have a go to spoon album, just a go to spoon playlist with like 6-7 songs from every album.

Is Transference the most solemn?

reading and relistening, i wish i'd voted now. i keep thinking of my musician friend with p. good and even similar taste to mine who told me "uh, yeah, they're not terrible, but not much there." i want to find him and slap some sense into him.

telephono would totally be one of those "underrated post-grunge bands you can find for $2" CDs if the group had broken up after Sneaks. And I'm just surprised if everyone really prefers every disc of their more finger-snappy shooby-doo shit to their most pixies-meets-wire album

Telephono sounds like a Pixies tribute band attempting original material.
