i've come around to "beautiful exit" still not crazy about the guitars but pretty much everything else is really good about that song especially the vocals

It's missing a desert scene but otherwise I feel this clip is kind of perfect for the song?

his band is straight up unbelievable

lol yes sounds like a very good activity.

i really dig NWA but sometimes kurupt's verse kind of grates, it is a little corny maybe?

marcos, Thursday, 13 August 2015 16:04 (ten years ago)

not super into his album as a whole tbh, def rank it below the first two

flopson, Thursday, 13 August 2015 16:27 (ten years ago)

yea

Spottie, Thursday, 13 August 2015 16:30 (ten years ago)

ditto, but the highs are excellent

Meta Forksclove-Liebeskind (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 13 August 2015 21:11 (ten years ago)

the highs are nice but none come close to "coffee" imo, I think I'd feel way differently about this album if it didn't have "coffee"

marcos, Thursday, 13 August 2015 23:42 (ten years ago)

but yea there are a fair amount of tracks I skip

marcos, Thursday, 13 August 2015 23:42 (ten years ago)

This was a disappointment in the end. I thought Coffee would be the conventional really good-but-nice middling track amongst other truly great things that stretched out his sound. As it turned out, it was the best song and the strongest hook. Offputting production and session muso rock guitar sounds didn't help.

paulhw, Friday, 14 August 2015 00:01 (ten years ago)

yea a lot of the rock touches on this just don't appeal to me

marcos, Friday, 14 August 2015 00:04 (ten years ago)

boooooo @ everyone

insufficiently familiar with xgau's work to comment intelligently (BradNelson), Friday, 14 August 2015 00:04 (ten years ago)

coffee is sublime though easily one my favorite tracks of the year

marcos, Friday, 14 August 2015 00:08 (ten years ago)

I'm having this weird relationship with the album right now where on one listen I'll really like it, and then on the next I'll find its spotty and trying.

"Coffee" still among the best tracks of the year, if not THE best.

The New Gay Sadness (cryptosicko), Friday, 14 August 2015 01:32 (ten years ago)

coffee takes me places :D

marcos, Friday, 14 August 2015 01:36 (ten years ago)

i love the rock touches on this!!! still as wonderful as ever for me

lex pretend, Friday, 14 August 2015 09:22 (ten years ago)

idk i never really liked "coffee" that much

i do find the album lacking somewhat compared to kaleidoscope dream but it still has a few great songs

dyl, Friday, 14 August 2015 15:01 (ten years ago)

this album is so warm and glowy idk

First Ave show was moved to State Theater. A somewhat less exciting prospect but I'll be there. He talks about the venue change here: http://www.citypages.com/music/miguel-talks-first-ave-racial-expectations-sex-7567982

great url lol

marcos, Saturday, 15 August 2015 03:37 (ten years ago)

I was at the State Theater show in Minneapolis last night. People were not kidding how incredible his band is. One of the highlights was the guitarist spinning around really fast whilst playing The Thrill. One of the best live shows I've been to.

haha yea me too, i listened this morning and i was like "okay this is awesome there are only like 2 tracks i don't like"

marcos, Monday, 17 August 2015 14:39 (ten years ago)

"the valley" is really bad imo, i'm just not feeling that tune at all

"flesh" on the other hand is great

"leaves" i've always liked but this morning it's been especially powerful, that tune is amaaaaaaaaaaaazing

marcos, Monday, 17 August 2015 14:41 (ten years ago)

i don't think i know who geoffreyess is???

i was at the minneapolis show. i had a great time, but in recollection my feelings are kind of negative, i'll have to think about it

goole, Monday, 17 August 2015 15:31 (ten years ago)

it was kind of a marathon; he gave songs i liked less real workouts, stuff i liked he just kind of breezed through.

and maybe i totally lost the plot but i don't think he played arch & point?

i was into how douchey is band was though
