xxxp loving that julian horn mix!
also esters was my favourite london cafe so <3 <3
― just sayin, Friday, 3 July 2015 01:20 (ten years ago)
that song i asked about id'ing is amazing - just listening to it now.
it's well worth checking out julian horn's other mixes. great dj. i am keen to give esters a go - i find it cool they are doing such a low key mix series just because.
this stuart daly mix is good - some stuff like kate bush and destroyer among more folky balearic things.

prob posting dream chimney here every week but this one is a diff twist - jazzier and a bit more psychedelic. cool edit of paul simon near the end. at least i assume it's an edit.

i've found gold with this track:
Evvol - Four Steps From Homehttps://open.spotify.com/track/03JdgUbGGdOkAQybKq4Y7watmospheric dreamy electronic pop, that has a italo-disco vibe, absolutely astonishing track with sparkling synths.

anyone know the tune at 23 minutes in that jamie tiller mix? i've heard it in several other mixes, it sounds pretty classic.

Was just coming here to post the Jupiter/Juno, can't stop listening to that one.
(Paul Simon not an edit, just "Can't Run But", always a powerful reminder to not sleep on Rhythm of the Saints)

Magik Sunset Part 2 turned up in the post this weekend.
Ace as expected although seems heavier on the spaced out instrumentals this time around (not that that's a bad thing)

The Colours of Life indeed a very pleasant surprise. His latest vocal albums (Outsiders & R&S, awesome artwork though on the latter) don't really appeal to me tbh, but this is a return to form. The River EP still his best imo, much in the same vein as TCOL, and apparently inspired from Fitzcarraldo.
― the european nikon is here (grauschleier), Tuesday, 18 August 2015 14:21 (ten years ago)
I'm not so sure about the Werner Herzog connection with The River but there's one track that's def influenced by the Popul Vuh soundtrack. I'll rep for the Exercises EP as his peak so far but maybe that's because I slightly prefer his influences on that one (Sylvian, Sakamoto.) If you prefer Security-era Gabriel or Steve Reich, then your top pick will likely differ.
I'd agree that R&S is a vocal album in the same way that Another Green World is a vocal album. But it is a damn fine album for sunsets.

tho it is annoying to get recommendations for un-released stuff, and the only place i could hear it was with effing tim sweeney talking over a good portion of it, "that ibiza track" is pretty great. are there other "sunrain" re-works like this out there?
― hug niceman (psychgawsple), Tuesday, 1 September 2015 00:00 (ten years ago)
this just about belongs here - hunee has been doing a residency at nts - dunno if you guys listen to his sets but i find him one of the best for digging and generally great selections:

also the mark barrett album is good - dunno if anyone mentioned that here.

I think the Mark Barrott album might have had one or two mentions. Has anyone got his Music For Pilates album or whatever it's called?
Sunrain re-works? - there's this of course:
