Man half of you all are CRAZY! You cannot compare Nas to Jay-Z. Jay- Z is a party rapper, he is a pop star. Nas is a lyricist, using a more complex rhyme scheme. Nas ate Jay-Z alive with his Ether literally calling him out on all his lies. Jay-Z isn't a bad rapper in any respect. He has a lot of clever verses, though his rhyme scheme is really simple. It is just STUPID to compare sales. I mean Cash Money Millionares generate some of the highest sales in the industry and they suck at rhyming, they just make party beats and shit you can bob your head to. Jay-Z makes more party songs than Nas which is why he has more sales. Wu-Tang tighter than Dr. Dre, they would eat him alive, but he makes more sales does that mean he's better? No he just sells more because he caters to a larger audience, not just the hard-core hip hop crowd. So lyrically Nas kills Jay-Z, but Jay-Z is a good rapper with a good sense of marketing and puts out more party songs. "Big Pimpin" is not a lyrically good song, but it sold millions of his albums, so don't compare sales cuz that's just ignorant.

Yo, DB, your thoughts are mad cool, but I gotta respectfully disagree. First off, the only people who put down record sales are people who like a rapper that doesn't sell much. I know that lot of morons say Jay is better than Nas because he sells more. But anybody who knows hip-hop knows that's a dumb ass argument. BUT Jay (to me) is still a much better rapper because he makes better SONGS than Nas. And that is reflected in the fact that Jay outsells Nas. Also, Nas is not necessarily a BETTER lyricist, he's just a DEEPER lyricist. I prefer Jay's wordplay, wit, and humor over Nas' lines anyday of the week. True, Ether got all in Jay's ass, but to me, Takeover did an equally good job AND Jay only dedicated ONE VERSE to Nas! The Super Ugly comeback is wack compared to Ether, but I still think the main disses are equal. Also, Wu Tang may be better than Dr. Dre, but Dr. Dre is one of the worst rappers ever. So that's not complimenting Wu. And even in the Wu, Method Man is the only one with any skills. The rest of em are reminiscing about the mid 90s wondering why time couldn't freeze then. And being from DA SOUTH, I'll listen to Cash Money because true they make me bob my head, and having fun is more important TO ME than having to think about some self proclaimed God MC rap about life as he knows it. And as wizzard pointed out, there's a certain type of charisma that makes a good rapper, and Nas lacks it. He's the WNBA of rap: mad skills, but still boring as hell!

Jay is not a pop star. Just because he makes a few catchy, beat based songs does no make him pop. That's ignorant. How many of Jay's songs do you actually listen to? Sure, Izzo, Girl, Big Pimpin are rather "light in the ass" but what about Nas? I think we can all agree (even the fiercist Nas advocates) that Nas has tried the "pop" route, too. So don't blame Jay because his fan base accepts ALL of his music, while Nas' fan base rejects it. It's also STUPID to remember one rapper's "pop" songs and ignore another's just because one happens to be your favorite.

In closing, to me Jay is better than Nas in all categories instead of DEEP LYRICS. But Jay has Nas beat in everything else. And that's H3K and his view...

Why didn't he respond to any of them, but as soon as Nas laces Ether he goes into the studio not even a DAY later a records a wack comeback in Supa Ugly. Also, Jay even said with his "camel lips", that Nas is of high caliber so he had to make sure he came correct against him.

Next, all those "so called facts" you spat were like I said OPINIONS. First off, just because Jay FEELS that Nas was tight when he first came out and now he's "garbage" does that make it fact?....HELL NO!! And in plus that shit is irrelevant now that Stillmatic has came out. Second, Nas's "one hot album every ten yr. average" is also an OPINION. Too me Nas had a classic in Illmatic, a near classic in It Was Written, a good album in I Am, and a subpar/borderline wack album in Nastradamus. So once again, just because Jay thinks Nas has a "one hot album every ten yr. average" it supposed to be fact?.....HELL NO!! Lastly, just because Jay FEELS Nas had the worst flow on Oochie Wally it's supposed to be fact?.....you guessed it dun....HELL NO!! So in conclusion, like I've been sayin' from the jump off The Takeover is nothin' but opinions with the exception of Jay fuckin' Carmen.
