Adding the exclamation point to Boys Will Be Boys! just makes it so much worse, for some reason.

Don't know why you'd call your album this but...

I really shouldn't drink hot coffee while reading this thread.

<doug watson goes to conference room, sees it's a forgettable 1970s band named Hot Coffee, promoting their album "...With Extra Cream!?">

Herbie Flowers - A Little Potty

Is there supposed to be some kind of a pun here, based on the adjective and noun meaning of "potty"? Shouldn't the guy be sitting on a potty then?

Tuomas, Tuesday, 9 June 2015 13:31 (eleven years ago)

I thought "potty" meant "quirky" in English-as-spoken-in-England.

the top man in the language department (誤訳侮辱), Tuesday, 9 June 2015 13:35 (eleven years ago)

Maybe it's like, a little party, hence him being shrunk to mushroom size, but Herbie is also a little potty?

Doctor Casino, Tuesday, 9 June 2015 13:36 (eleven years ago)

Ah, okay, I get it.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 9 June 2015 13:39 (eleven years ago)

That's a little awful.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 9 June 2015 13:40 (eleven years ago)

Maybe it's like, a little party, hence him being shrunk to mushroom size

i'm dubious about that. maybe there's a herb/pot joke going on there though

Making A Name For Myself (1979)

here i am in the land of large breakfasts (Doctor Casino), Friday, 19 June 2015 20:43 (ten years ago)

Wow... that is... I'm speechless... they don't come much better...

I've sort of specialized in abysmal UK nonentities of the 70s on this thread but I think I might have run out of them :( someone prove me wrong please.

The Manner of Crawly (Tom D.), Friday, 19 June 2015 21:06 (ten years ago)

lol at the making a name for myself cover... dog looks super embarrassed. A+

tylerw, Friday, 19 June 2015 21:16 (ten years ago)

Oh Tom I thought you'd found an inexhaustible motherlode of abysmal UK nonentities, don't say the supply has ended.

Tim, Friday, 19 June 2015 21:32 (ten years ago)

Yeah, Making A Name For Myself is so good that it seems anticlimactic to post this one (don't think it's been done yet?)

'Hard Labor' by Three Dog Night

The title and basic concept make it seem like something that should fit here, but it comes out a little too disturbing and ends up looking more like it should Devo album cover or something? apparently this version was quickly pulled in favour of a censored edition with a large sticking plaster over the centre of the image

soref, Friday, 19 June 2015 21:45 (ten years ago)

not sure if it entirely fits -- the title is just swarbrick 2 -- but I've always found the cover of this one kind of hilarious and halfassed

cigarette pushes it over the line into being appropriate for the thread imo

soref, Friday, 19 June 2015 21:54 (ten years ago)

haha yeah, i love swarbrick

tylerw, Friday, 19 June 2015 21:58 (ten years ago)

the swarb is awesome, but...

note the miniscule hands attempting to indeed lift the lid

no lime tangier, Friday, 19 June 2015 22:06 (ten years ago)

Lol

tylerw, Friday, 19 June 2015 22:53 (ten years ago)

Given Roger Millers sort of goofy sense of humor I suppose he really took to this type of album titling

kurt kobaïan (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 19 June 2015 23:28 (ten years ago)

Not to pat myself on the back but I kind of want to just retire from the thread after "Making A Name For Myself." I really don't think I can top that one. Nonetheless, a few of today's finds coming up...

here i am in the land of large breakfasts (Doctor Casino), Saturday, 20 June 2015 17:18 (ten years ago)

That does seem to be the clear winner, way ahead of the back.

This genre just keeps on giving, like film noir or something, pretty much every newly rediscovered example has something to offer.

This is, in fact, a self-titled album - but I would like special dispensation, based on the cover design, to enter it as Valdy and the Hometown Band - Folksinger Deluxe With Side of Fries (1976)
