GREAT track. I wasn't expecting much having only heard the big hit, but this and especially "All That" are amazing.

i sense a charli xcx-type situation coming on xp
― dyl, Friday, 12 June 2015 03:30 (eleven years ago)
can anyone point me to a situation where releasing an album later in major jurisdictions like the US or UK has still resulted in high sales numbers? delays seem to be the norm with single releases in the UK and songs still go #1 there months after first appearing online, but i can't really come up with anything analogous in relation to albums.
i guess i get delaying things if you're a new artist and still sorting out distribution / label deals but it doesn't make sense to me for major label acts on their second or third albums like charli or CRJ. just put the whole thing out there worldwide at the same time. space it out by a week maybe if you want to do a week on US talkshows and the next week on UK ones as promotions. a 2 month gap is moronically counterproductive.
― bae sremmurd (monotony), Friday, 12 June 2015 04:13 (eleven years ago)
i can't think of any examples, it seems like one of those practices that labels continue to do lately out of their conviction that (a) maybe it'll work this time! maybe radio will like the second single better!! or (b) okay maybe it won't work but at least it won't be AS bad as if we had dropped it on the original date

Two new songs. Both great

"RUN AWAY WITH ME" IS AN INSTANT 10/10 THIS IS BOTH MY OPINION AND A FACT
― j. winters (josh), Monday, 22 June 2015 11:43 (eleven years ago)
Yeah, those are both brilliant. Run Away With Me should be massive.
― Kitchen Person, Monday, 22 June 2015 15:03 (eleven years ago)
It sounds a lot like Charli XCX singing the title of Run Away With Me in the chorus.
― Kitchen Person, Monday, 22 June 2015 15:07 (eleven years ago)
wow "run away with me" :D :D :D
― dyl, Monday, 22 June 2015 16:29 (eleven years ago)

surprised that i don't wish any of the bonus tracks were on the proper record. love "never get to hold you" though
― insufficiently familiar with xgau's work to comment intelligently (BradNelson), Tuesday, 23 June 2015 14:44 (eleven years ago)
This album is incredible.
― Kitchen Person, Tuesday, 23 June 2015 15:02 (eleven years ago)
haven't heard the album yet but still can't get over how good "run away with me is". might already be my favorite song from her yet.
― dyl, Tuesday, 23 June 2015 15:11 (eleven years ago)
"Run Away With Me" and "I Really Like You" are both otherwise-great pop songs ruined by the cheesy quiet third verse/buildup to the final chorus, which is a trope I really, really, really, really, really, really cannot abide
― example (crüt), Tuesday, 23 June 2015 15:13 (eleven years ago)
who gave you ideas like that, said you could keep them

"making the most of the night" is like a perfectly curved disco chorus
― insufficiently familiar with xgau's work to comment intelligently (BradNelson), Tuesday, 23 June 2015 17:49 (eleven years ago)
i've only listened to this precisely once so far but...possible AOTY??
― the velvet dope (Andre Gunder Frank 3000), Tuesday, 23 June 2015 19:08 (eleven years ago)
boy trouble, we've got double
You have to go 14 songs deep in this record to find one that's not really so good.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 23 June 2015 20:21 (eleven years ago)
Are you referring to I Didn't Just Come Here To Dance? That's probably my favourite of the bonus tracks.
― Kitchen Person, Tuesday, 23 June 2015 20:25 (eleven years ago)
Yes, ew. The ones immediately after it are great though! Especially "Favorite Colour."
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 23 June 2015 20:42 (eleven years ago)

"YOU MAKE ME FEEL LIKE I COULD BE DRIVING YOU ALL NIGHT / AND I'LL FIND YOUR LIPS IN THE STREET LIGHTS / I WANNA BE THERE WITH YOUUUU"
― j. winters (josh), Tuesday, 23 June 2015 22:55 (eleven years ago)
i love "never get to hold you," it's like "time after time" as reimagined by kavinsky
― j. winters (josh), Tuesday, 23 June 2015 22:58 (eleven years ago)
Man the first 9 tracks are such a perfect run. The chorus of Making the Most of the Night is a huge highlight.
― misterjoshua, Tuesday, 23 June 2015 23:55 (eleven years ago)
definitely agree, i feel like the sequencing makes "all that" sound a lot better than it did on its own
― j. winters (josh), Wednesday, 24 June 2015 00:12 (eleven years ago)
The chorus to Love Again sounds so similar to something else but I can't quite place it. The closest thing I can think of is Bizarre Love Triangle but I'm not sure that's it. Anyone else have any ideas?
― Kitchen Person, Wednesday, 24 June 2015 00:33 (eleven years ago)
Something this album really has going for it that Kiss didn't is the cohesiveness in sound. The fact I Really Like You sounds far more at home here than Call Me Maybe (or Good Time) did on Kiss is a real testament to that I think.
― misterjoshua, Wednesday, 24 June 2015 00:37 (eleven years ago)
Absolutely agreed.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 24 June 2015 01:01 (eleven years ago)
We should probably just make this the general CRJ thread. Mod want to abridge the title?
