i know what you're talking about stevie, but i guess it doesn't bother me. there are maybe three tracks i skip but the rest are jams.

the album is growing on me, surprising there aren't more mentions of it on ILM tbh.

It's just OK. The beats are weak imo.

I don't dislike it though.

Seeing him next weekend for free. I enjoyed the one song, but that's all I've heard.

"Head In The Clouds" is amazing I don't know why it's tucked away at the end there.

Yeh the album is mega-disappointing. Shame.

Went to their show at the U Street Music Hall tonight. I was meh on most of the songs, but his energy was good and Head in The Clouds is a total stormer.

glad to hear, that colbert was my only exposure to him live and i was afraid he took all his least enjoyable eccentricities seriously and was a disaster onstage

I saw Shamir in a church basement last night and he was STUNNING (I also saw him like 6 mos ago play a short set at a club at like midnight and he seemed sorta tired and it was just-okay). Most of the crowd was, like, hyperactive high school kids which was sort of surprising and they were also not v well behaved and kept stage diving and trying to mosh, ew. He was so bubbly and engaged ~AND~ he played both "If It Wasn't True" and "Sometimes A Man" which he didn't play last time (also the crowd acted like they were new songs and totally didn't respond). It was so much better than I expected it to be. Srsly go see this lil angel.

as promised, he was very fun and straightforward live; walked on stage and tweety birded out a HI and it was the cutest thing. He's got a good thirty minutes of sharpness, which is an impressive catalogue for such a youngster. I would only say that after that first half hour, I needed to tap out as (admittedly without the aid of drugs, alcohol or someone to dance with), it started getting to be a bit too much cotton candy all at once. Would love to see a double bill with scissor sisters, which this is reminding me of more and more now.

I thought "In For the Kill" was a HOT CHIP SONG before vox kicked in :P

We were talking about this on Facebook. Most of the people involved in the discussion thought this was terrible.

i have no real duranx2 nostalgia at all and i'm inclined to like shamir's voice but, much like his cover of brandy clark's "Stripes", i was happy to listen to this once but have no inclination to want to hear it again.

The song itself isn't suited to rendition as a sensitive acoustic song and the way Shamir sings it neutralizes all of the good things about that voice and emphasizes all of the terrible things about it.

his "stripes" cover is borderline unlistenable

I am loving the new single a LOT, it's a definite step up in quality from his initial basement-indie output, I'm v glad he's found his footing a bit.

i mean the song and shamir's vocal performance are excellent but i would like to point out that the woodland camo crop top with the heart on the front is absolutely perfect as well.
