'that's my shit' is still A+ classic to me, song after it was kinda cool in that dramatic way that makes you feel like you're at the climactic moment of a film, the rest of it was zzzz

deej loaf (D-40), Friday, 17 April 2015 15:20 (eleven years ago)

It's nice but rarely special. Your review was on point, deej.

longneck, Friday, 17 April 2015 16:08 (eleven years ago)

yeah i've come to love 'that's my shit.' very reminiscent of the early singles.

Jacques_Lamure, Friday, 17 April 2015 16:17 (eleven years ago)

I still really haven't come around to that's my shit completely but the 'she met you out tryna find me' line is nice

johnny crunch, Friday, 17 April 2015 16:37 (eleven years ago)

eight months pass...

to me (and i guess this chimes in with evan further upthread) this album is almost kinda like a magically transported and retooled unearthed terius debut from the 90s, from that once upon a time atl r&b c-lister who did minor regional heat for raheem the dream and b-rock & the bizz etc, only instead of shanaynay from around the way singing bout pagers it's beyonce singing bout that siri

naturally i can see how that may not be of much allure to dreamer aesthetes but imo better the local and lo-qual vitality of this record than the sadly diminished returns of love king and 'slow it down'

most impt thing to know is that carl mo (in posting the dirty version on youtube) (he produced it) has inadvertently revealed that terry was known during this period as KASHMERE!!

Does that make you mutter, under your breath, “Damn”? (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 23 December 2015 23:41 (ten years ago)

wonder if he'd ever stoop so low as to do a full saadiq retro album on his sam cooke shit. mightn't even be so bad?

mingalaba, Thursday, 7 January 2016 01:12 (ten years ago)

Lol tidal

Spottie, Thursday, 7 January 2016 03:41 (ten years ago)

The-Dream is the new Prince*

*releasing music exclusively on Tidal where nobody will hear it

some dude, Thursday, 7 January 2016 04:04 (ten years ago)

some dude, Friday, 8 January 2016 19:21 (ten years ago)

Copy rights, pleasing all star wars fans, hiring professionals. (forksclovetofu), Friday, 8 January 2016 19:22 (ten years ago)

these songs are boring :(

johnny crunch, Friday, 8 January 2016 22:29 (ten years ago)

I use Tidal but I don't even want to listen to this. I don't need excessive art in my rnb. :-/

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Friday, 8 January 2016 23:32 (ten years ago)

three months pass...

So Crown Jewel leaked and it sounds like reference tracks for... hits?

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Sunday, 10 April 2016 20:52 (ten years ago)

not sure exactly what u mean but they do sortof remind me of his vers of betcha gon know but no where near as good as that obv

johnny crunch, Monday, 11 April 2016 12:29 (ten years ago)

I basically meant it's pop terius and i just discovered how much I've missed him?

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Monday, 11 April 2016 14:11 (ten years ago)

1st time in paris sounds p good yea tho idk i dont really hear 'hits' here.. if anything this sounds closer to his 1977 terius album imo

johnny crunch, Friday, 15 April 2016 00:54 (ten years ago)

there shd also maybe be a 'boat' rmx w a lil yachty verse

johnny crunch, Friday, 15 April 2016 00:58 (ten years ago)

The main thing about this to me is that it's thoroughly uncool. And the lack of coolness - or attempts at being cool - is just such a relief. He sounds free again.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Friday, 15 April 2016 06:42 (ten years ago)

This is totally the best thing he's done since Love King. The 80s teen-movie gloss on "Love Me Back" is a really good fit.

OMG, this is niiiiiiiiiiiiiice

Crazy Eddie & Jesus the Kid (Raymond Cummings), Monday, 18 April 2016 00:29 (ten years ago)

I reviewed an earlier leaked version in July before it (the album) got yanked. How much different is it?

The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 18 April 2016 00:44 (ten years ago)

Nothing from Crown, but ten tracks so I'm guessing a couple of more songs?

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Monday, 18 April 2016 06:31 (ten years ago)

five months pass...

new Tinashe track written by Terius (with lots of his backing vocals across the track) and co-produced with Tricky Stewart. any other big Terius writing/production credits in the past few months? I feel like he's been quiet, even on the writing tip.

mingalaba, Tuesday, 20 September 2016 05:00 (nine years ago)

got a good one on the Usher alb too

Spottie, Tuesday, 20 September 2016 05:04 (nine years ago)

yeah "bump" on the usher album is good

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 20 September 2016 15:15 (nine years ago)

woah 'bump' is excellent, thanks for the tip. reminds me of some of their best writing work for Mariah.

mingalaba, Wednesday, 21 September 2016 08:21 (nine years ago)

mingalaba, Sunday, 25 September 2016 18:46 (nine years ago)

he had two new dream songs on the radio recently, slow one lemon lean is real nice

schlump, Monday, 26 September 2016 00:51 (nine years ago)

two weeks pass...

I don't want to derail the Solange thread with this, b/c it seems like a conversation nobody wants to have, but I've had a hard time listening to this dude since the domestic assault allegations. I haven't cracked why these kinds of allegations stick to some artists but bounce of off others, but I imagine the fact that the allegations came against The-Dream at a time when his career was in a lull actually ended up working in his favor, since nobody was paying attention to him. So he got a pass, but it's all I can think about when I hear him now, and I cringe every time I hear him on "F.U.B.U."

Evan R, Tuesday, 11 October 2016 20:46 (nine years ago)

new one with sevyn is decent too

New one with Sevyn is incredible despite being obviously in debt to You Da One

johnny crunch, Saturday, 17 December 2016 20:28 (nine years ago)

really liked "Rih-Flex" on a first listen this morning

Rock Wokeman (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 17 December 2016 21:09 (nine years ago)

frank ocean song so embarrassing

schlump, Saturday, 17 December 2016 21:25 (nine years ago)

This EP is vile.

Evan R, Saturday, 24 December 2016 18:38 (nine years ago)

The whole thing is so lifeless and sexist and hateful. "College Daze" is as bad as anything The Weeknd has done.

Evan R, Saturday, 24 December 2016 18:41 (nine years ago)

one month passes...

Terius stated at his Seattle show last week that his new album is dropping in 2 weeks...

mingalaba, Tuesday, 21 February 2017 03:03 (nine years ago)
