this might sound crazy but young thug is not organized konfusion

J0rdan S., Friday, 17 April 2015 14:47 (eleven years ago)

actually young thug is organized konfusion, sry

lag∞n, Friday, 17 April 2015 14:48 (eleven years ago)

my point is since when has 'does it have a hit' been a requirement for albums i like

deej loaf (D-40), Friday, 17 April 2015 14:49 (eleven years ago)

esp rap albums

deej loaf (D-40), Friday, 17 April 2015 14:49 (eleven years ago)

if anything i have given up on rap that actively aspires to have top 40 hits

deej loaf (D-40), Friday, 17 April 2015 14:49 (eleven years ago)

i'm not talking about top 40 hits. but like, what are the songs on this tape that are gonna last?

J0rdan S., Friday, 17 April 2015 14:51 (eleven years ago)

was this thing released "as an album" just cause of some contract requirement, kinda weird for it to have birdman all over it and not be on cash mon

lag∞n, Friday, 17 April 2015 14:51 (eleven years ago)

all of them

my favorite is 'halftime'

cash money is basically managing him but 300 owns the paperwork

deej loaf (D-40), Friday, 17 April 2015 14:52 (eleven years ago)

all of them

k

J0rdan S., Friday, 17 April 2015 14:52 (eleven years ago)

ill put it like this: i like this album more than the rae sremmurd album

deej loaf (D-40), Friday, 17 April 2015 14:53 (eleven years ago)

hmm

r|t|c, Friday, 17 April 2015 14:56 (eleven years ago)

sometimes when i think of young thug i also think of p monch.

ANU (sisilafami), Friday, 17 April 2015 15:02 (eleven years ago)

birdman's verse on the first track is incredible

J0rdan S., Friday, 17 April 2015 15:40 (eleven years ago)

thug is doing werewolf howls on 'halftime'

deej loaf (D-40), Friday, 17 April 2015 15:57 (eleven years ago)

'knocked off' beat is ^_____^

deej loaf (D-40), Friday, 17 April 2015 16:05 (eleven years ago)

ya i could definitely use another 'condo music' or '4 eva bloody' but there's still a lot of great stuff here. 'constantly hating,' 'dreams,' and 'numbers' esp.

Jacques_Lamure, Friday, 17 April 2015 16:24 (eleven years ago)

'condo music' wd sound very weird here

deej loaf (D-40), Friday, 17 April 2015 16:27 (eleven years ago)

yeah it would sound out of place

J0rdan S., Friday, 17 April 2015 16:27 (eleven years ago)

but idk if that thematic consistency is necessarily the best thing

but definitely like, "keep in touch" or "haiti music" or something is def in the style or mood of this album -- i think "constantly hating" gets closest to that, i wish there were a few more songs like it

J0rdan S., Friday, 17 April 2015 16:29 (eleven years ago)

depending on if ur in a condo or not

lag∞n, Friday, 17 April 2015 16:29 (eleven years ago)

haiti slang

lag∞n, Friday, 17 April 2015 16:29 (eleven years ago)

yeah, the coherence here feels like it's born of him drinking a ton of lean, which sort of modulates the energy and the type of melodies he's trying to do and stuff. not that i don't enjoy it, just hope he gets back in that more frantic gear at some point. stuff like 'treasure' was so damn fun.

Jacques_Lamure, Friday, 17 April 2015 16:33 (eleven years ago)

can we not blame lean for every aesthetic change an artist makes

deej loaf (D-40), Friday, 17 April 2015 16:35 (eleven years ago)

lean, lean, lean lean lean

lag∞n, Friday, 17 April 2015 16:40 (eleven years ago)

Man these beats breathe

Evan R, Friday, 17 April 2015 16:42 (eleven years ago)

The more I listen to this the less it sounds less like a Rich Gang continuation and more like it's own thing. It's much roomier than the Rich Gang tape.

Thug's vocal contortions are still there, but they're so much subtler now. And he's got some new tricks... those final couple verses on "Just Might Be" are stunners

Evan R, Friday, 17 April 2015 16:45 (eleven years ago)

rich gang is a party then everyone goes home and the barter is thug on his own winding down getting ready for bed watching a movie or w/e

lag∞n, Friday, 17 April 2015 16:47 (eleven years ago)

what a disappointment. he sounds burnt out already. lean and ridiculously strong strain weed always ruins too many rappers these days.

ha this comparison is super astute and would also drive a fair size portion of rap fans completely see red

The Reverend, Friday, 17 April 2015 21:15 (eleven years ago)

somewhat embarrassingly i own a signed 2lp copy of internal affairs that says "thanks [rtc] keep supporting real hip hop!!" so plz fwd all complaints for this hyper tenuous tangent to me i guess

r|t|c, Friday, 17 April 2015 21:44 (eleven years ago)

that album is awesome no shame

that said i should have sold it when its CD price peaked at like $100 back in 2006 or thereabouts

deej loaf (D-40), Friday, 17 April 2015 21:46 (eleven years ago)

o yeah no killer record it's more my sad dereliction of duties to real hip hop in the time since
