my point is since when has 'does it have a hit' been a requirement for albums i like

esp rap albums

if anything i have given up on rap that actively aspires to have top 40 hits

i'm not talking about top 40 hits. but like, what are the songs on this tape that are gonna last?

was this thing released "as an album" just cause of some contract requirement, kinda weird for it to have birdman all over it and not be on cash mon

birdman's verse on the first track is incredible

thug is doing werewolf howls on 'halftime'

'knocked off' beat is ^_____^

ya i could definitely use another 'condo music' or '4 eva bloody' but there's still a lot of great stuff here. 'constantly hating,' 'dreams,' and 'numbers' esp.

'condo music' wd sound very weird here

yeah it would sound out of place

but idk if that thematic consistency is necessarily the best thing

but definitely like, "keep in touch" or "haiti music" or something is def in the style or mood of this album -- i think "constantly hating" gets closest to that, i wish there were a few more songs like it

yeah, the coherence here feels like it's born of him drinking a ton of lean, which sort of modulates the energy and the type of melodies he's trying to do and stuff. not that i don't enjoy it, just hope he gets back in that more frantic gear at some point. stuff like 'treasure' was so damn fun.

can we not blame lean for every aesthetic change an artist makes

The more I listen to this the less it sounds less like a Rich Gang continuation and more like it's own thing. It's much roomier than the Rich Gang tape.

Thug's vocal contortions are still there, but they're so much subtler now. And he's got some new tricks... those final couple verses on "Just Might Be" are stunners

rich gang is a party then everyone goes home and the barter is thug on his own winding down getting ready for bed watching a movie or w/e

what a disappointment. he sounds burnt out already. lean and ridiculously strong strain weed always ruins too many rappers these days.

ha this comparison is super astute and would also drive a fair size portion of rap fans completely see red

somewhat embarrassingly i own a signed 2lp copy of internal affairs that says "thanks [rtc] keep supporting real hip hop!!" so plz fwd all complaints for this hyper tenuous tangent to me i guess

that album is awesome no shame

that said i should have sold it when its CD price peaked at like $100 back in 2006 or thereabouts
