Nah, it's very safe to say that I don't have an additional (or "sock") account here. If I recall, registering for this account was enough of a pain in the arse. I don't know what it's like to register a new account now, but when I registered for this one I remember it taking a couple of attempts.

Actually, I remember when I first started posting here one or two people actually thought I was the "sock" account of an established poster, which I found a bit weird. I don't see the reason why someone would want a "sock" account beyond the obvious negative/deceptive/prickish reasons, really, and as I've said on a prior occasion, I signed up to this forum to talk about music and nothing more than that, really. I have no interest in getting involved in the forum beyond that. It must be noted that I didn't think an awful lot of Raccoon Tanuki or his/her posts on the occasions I came across them.

It's just a bit of a surprise when I'm browsing through a thread and I notice posts and think "hang on, those look similar to posts that I've made in the past", and they turn out to actually be posts that I've made in the past, just copied from their original threads (we're talking years back here) and taken out of context and re-posted word-for-word by folks who are often found copy and pasting shit into threads like "no way sna", "zing!" etc. It's more than a bit fucking weird, to be honest. On the plus side, I guess it's good to know that I have a good memory for things that I've posted in this past and can recognise my own posting style even if I haven't seen those posts for years.

As I've said before, I enjoy discussing music here and find there to be some incredibly knowledgeable people here, but I've observed there's also a negative/snarky undercurrent to ILX which is less than appealing and I guess in a way I'm glad I'm nowhere near as heavily involved in ILX as some others are.

How does this relate to your above post at all?

ahhh, I was confused because they pasted his quotes but not the signature line, so I missed they were his. I thought he was just quoting these random things they'd said in the hopes of thread pollution

He had accumulated a significant number of flag posts. It wasn't 51'd but it was an inevitability. I think that most people showed a lot of restraint in not engaging with him this time around, but everyone was tired of it.
